Something that @Treble said on another thread gave me the idea for this hot potato thread.

Does the Deep State (aka The Shadow Government) exist?

When we vote for the two major parties, each of whom do exactly the same things as the other, and immediately ignore their election promises as soon as they get in power, does Parliament actually have any real power?

Or is Parliament constrained by what the major institutions (such as the banks and... er.... the banks) will permit it to do?

Is democracy merely an illusion? Or do we really have any ability to influence the way this country is run?

Needless to say, I want the wummery to be kept out of this debate.

Is this a thread about "Deep State" or the rest of the stuff you've posted? Because all of that corruption and/or self-interest can exist without one mate.

Its a horrible thought aint it, the people you put in charge rigging the system to absolutely **** every hole you knew you had and your children's and theirs.

The Panama papers investigation is enough to show you that politicians and thier soggy biscuit mates think you're worth nothing, big corporations will sell the souls of children to make a buck, and they all in this big club together, and we ain't fuking invited bro.

Good thing that's all bollocks tho eh cos that would be a scary fukin place to be.

I don't doubt that many politicians go into it as a vocation with good intentions. But it's the ****s who rise to the top.

That's the system. Doesn't help that too many who put a cross in a box are as thick as pig ****.

It's my opinion that you can't get to the top without sacrificing your morals and becoming indebted to people, generally those who are rich and powerful.

The whole system's ****ed, and while I wouldn't necessarily use the term 'deep state', I do tend to believe that democracy and the idea that us plebs can make a difference is somewhat an illusion.

That's just about where I am as well tbh <ok>

I'll add that if you genuinely intend to do the right thing, then chances are you'll be chewed up and spat out by the system.

Not necessarily Sucky. There are people who come into politics who genuinely want to do the right thing (and I would class that as putting the interests of the people ahead of themselves and anyone lobbying for their services) but they get chewed up by the system and portrayed as unelectable, which voters buy into and so they never really get significant positions of power to make a difference.

We can't make a change by using the same system to try and make a change. as that system is rigged to make sure that never really happens.

Of course its an illusion, red or blue, like hiag says they ALL go back on pledges and so on and so on, we get fed up with them, vote new "face of the company" in and rinse and repeat.

Peeps get angry at others for which ****ing lying **** bag they're gonna vote in to help **** them over again.

I have to laugh but I really don't find it funny <laugh>

Truthfully, I'm too old to care, and if I did care, there is fook all I can do about. <ok>

Ultimately power corrupts and human beings are greedy by nature, especially in the modern era of consumerism and capitalism.

Even people who start out with the best intentions are likely to drastically change the higher they rise and the more influence they get imo.

Good question, mate.

I want to take this hot potato subject in baby steps.

At this stage, all I am interested in is do you believe there is an organisation, an entity, a shadow government, that runs our world, regardless as to which party we vote in?

This first question goes to the very heart of what you believe to be democracy and, ultimately, freedom.

I tell you what my honest opinion to problem is, it is the banks. Coronavirus has merely accelerated that process, once the banks and major corporations have a cashless society, the identity control is complete....but don't forget not to use cash, because they want to protect their employee's from the virus, which is biggest load of bolloxs i've ever heard. Has there even been one case in the whole world, where transmission was confirmed due to the exchange of cash?

It's amazing how many of those die under extremely suspicious circumstances.

A billionaire, a politician, a working class bloke and an immigrant all sat around a table.

In the middle of the table is a plate with 10 biscuits on it.

The Billionaire leans over and grabs 9 of the biscuits. He then slides 2 under the table to the politician and whispers in his ear.

The politician turns to the working class bloke and says - that immigrant is trying to steal your biscuit.
