Also ask yourself this honestly about Haidara - would he get into any sides in the league?

Arsenal - Gibbs, Monreal
Man U - Shaw, Rojo
Man C - Clichy, Kolarov
Chelsea - Baba, Azpilicueta
Swansea - Taylor, Tabanou
Southampton - Bertrand, Targett
Liverpool - Gomez, Moreno
Spurs - Dier, Rose
Everton - Baines, Oviedo
Palace - Soare, Ward
Leicester - Schulpp

West Ham - Cresswell
Villa - Amavi, Bennett
Stoke - Pieters
Norwich - Olsson
WBA - Pocognoli, Lescott
Bournemouth - Cook, Mings

Hand on heart I think he'd be struggling with the above. Most even have 2 better than him. Ok Sunderland and Watford but otherwise. That can't be good enough for us surely?

There you go - highlighted the ones where I think Haidara would be better than existing options. However, he has the potential to be better than Cresswell, Taylor, Rose, Gibbs and I would even argue Shaw!

But of course they are all given a run of games without being slated constantly. If you cannot see he is progressing this season under decent coaches and actually playing then there is no point anyone discussing Haidara.

You my friend are one crazy bastardo. I'll ignore the stuff about Shaw etc as that is just crazy talk. He will never reach that level, not ever, no matter who is training him. I don't think you really believe that and are just chucking it in for a bit of fun.

You would honestly pick him above Amavi, Mings, Pieters, Pocognoli, Soare? Amavi was one of the best players in Ligue 1 last season on what I saw. Honestly Haidara couldn't lace his boots. Mings current ability and potential wipes the floor with him. Schulpp likewise. Pieters is bloody rock solid. A very good defender. Going forward he is maybe not as good, but in the primary role of defending its not even a debate. Pocognoli is a Belgian international full back who is decent. Not great but solid enough. Same goes for Olsson.

I can see Haidara - he is not progressing. Unless playing minutes is progressing? Playing minutes and being error strewn is not. I am not looking for perfection - but the basics are so far away.

Surely Bilic must be under some pressure to do quite well this season? They have signed another 4 players today.

Ogbonna, Jenkinson, Payet, Jelavic, Lanzini, Moses, Obiang, Song, Antonio, Hendrie, Randolph

Ok four are loans, but they are expensive loans with Song, Moses, Lanzini and Jenkinson likely to be on good money.

Then they have spent a good 30 odd million on the other 5.

I assume that means Adebayor's move is dead because they have 4 loans??
11 players must be a lot of wages. They haven't shifted that many have they? Maybe 5 or so?

This sounds crazy, but football - in some people's opinion - is a SQUAD game. Not at NUFC, we like our purples and to hell with the rest of the World.

I would rather we made the money go further but in this day and age 45-50 million isn't that much. We need more depth (a CB, a LB and a striker). We got 4 players and Toney who doesn't count. There is quality there but I still think it is going to be a real struggle this season. Reinforcements have trickled in but not substantial enough. We have a battle line and stemmed certain breaches but it is only going to hold out for so long.

True but 11 is a hell of a lot. They had a decent size squad anyway and more than anything that is a big turnover.

I agree with BRS. Its better but not quite enough to ensure a struggle won't ensue. I'd have used the money a little differently but such is life.

West ham have some cracking players, we are nowhere near good enough to be the talking about them. We can talk about sunderland, Watford, Bournemouth and Norwich.

This window is ****ing average from us. 1 immense cb, a slow winger and a pile of absolute garbage in gini and Mitrovic.

I just hope nobody figures out crossing from wide is a sure way to rip this team to shreds.
