He's a top keeper and made some outstanding saves today. He was certainly the difference between winning and losing. Should have been given MOM but that's what happens when they dish it out 5 minutes before the end of the game!
I honestly think De Gea is the best shot stopper that I've ever seen, the acrobatical saves that he can pull off are incredible. He only needs to add the coming off his line skills to be rated up there with Nuer.
As a shot stopper I've rarely seen anyone as good as him. He made a save from a Mata free kick a couple of seasons ago that was just ridiculous. He's still got a fair bit to do though to emulate the likes of Neuer and Schmeichel who have/had strikers ****ting themselves.
Great display by De Gea today, he only had 3 shots to save ( including the penalty ) but he saved them all brilliantly ! The lad is still very young for a keeper and can only get better. What pleased me most today though was by the end of the match we had 3 young academy players on the pitch, which is not bad for a club that is now going to " buy the league " by filling the team with galacticos at the expence of our youth !
I wonder how many threads Matth has made in the last couple years called "David De Gea" I remember someone once went and found them all and bumped them, and the front page of your board was fill with Threads created by Matth entitled "David De Gea"
This. LVG is brave enough to put the talented youngsters in. The Wilsons, Blacketts, mcNairs are what make the club unique in football. Yes, we've had to bring the Di Maria's, RVPs, Matas like we've had to bring the Ronaldos, RVNs, and Keanes in the past. But I will be made up if one of our own youngsters became a star!
Definitely brave. SAF put Carrick at CB rather than trust anyone from the youth team - LVG could easily have done the same with Blind rather than promote Blackett and McNair. He could've brought on Fletcher ahead of Wilson and shored up the midfield with experience when 2-1 up as well so I think he's definitely showing a willingness to trust the youth that even SAF arguably began to lack in his last two or three seasons.
Just seen his last save. My god, that was a world-class, save, no keeper in the premier league bar him would save that.
