Good job I'm not able to get to the Bowl for this one methinks. The weather won't save us and I'd be surprised, at this rate, if it goes much past lunch on day 4. I thought, from the scorecard, that Lehmann must have been the one bright spark but 3 of his 4 boundaries have been lucky edges that could well have got him out.
Yeah but Essex had the same issues with the new ball. Let's see what happens with an older, softer ball.
Essex do look a much stronger side than us on paper, so I'm not going to get down at a potential thrashing incoming. And I'm not expecting relegation because I don't think we're one of two worst sides. But I can't say that I'm expecting much from our red ball season. Weatherley and Prest in the top three is very uninspiring, and I don't believe Jack is ready. It was only thanks to the bad light yesterday that he avoided bringing up his 100 well inside 20 overs.
I don't mind Prest so much, as he's still young. Weatherley should be nowhere near the CC team though. Jack may be raw but I don't think Currie is a CC bowler at all. He's a OD specialist.
It's extremely frustrating to see Weatherley back opening in the CC, he simply does not have the technique to face the new ball regularly.
