Assuming that Ellis is fit tomorrow (sounds like he is), I wonder how he fits in. Drop Prest and go with six bowlers? Or leave out Wheal or Crane? The latter two both did well at Cardiff - but in Mason's case, how much of that was the pitch and how much was a turnaound in form?

Albert has done well enough that he doesn't deserve to miss out.

Very nice to finally be positive for both the win-loss record and the run rate. Granted, there's a reasonable chance that both disappear again on Sunday, but importantly we've got ourselves into a position where we can afford that.

Sussex and Middlesex aren't completely out of it, but they'll need the sort of finish that we had to last season. Most likely it's two from three to join Surrey and Somerset. Two wins from our last five gives us a chance if they're both against Gloucs, but almost certainly it'll need to be three wins from five.

Interesting that Somerset still have to play Surrey twice - in addition to us and Essex. I don't think for one second think they won't qualify, but it's not slam dunk that they'll get the second home tie.
