Good to see a pitch with some pace in it. The problem is that suited Surrey's bowling attack far more than our own.
Nevertheless, I thought that was pretty much top-end from us with that bat. Generally, despite the regular loss of wickets, I didn't have any problem with our batting. Only thing that comes to mind is that I'm still unsure about Prest coming in so early in the PP. Those 36 balls are precious, and he generally chews up too many of them. Now that isn't a problem if he (and the team as a whole) then pushes on - Kent being a perfect example. But it's asking a lot to do that regularly, especially for someone so young.
(That said, we got super lucky with that horror drop of Fuller by Overton.)
Pleased with how we hung in there with the ball. By taking it to the last over, our NRR has barely decreased. That could have been so much worse. Without Joe's great catch, Pollard could have won that with two or three overs left - and that really would have hurt our NRR.
Sussex losing today completely finishes them off. Despite Middlesex and Glamorgan winning, I still don't fear either of them getting into the top four. And despite Essex losing, they have enough nice looking fixtures to mean that they should get over the line. So quite possibly we're looking at a straight shoot out between us and Gloucs. With both matches still to play, we can't afford to lose them both - and possibly need to win both.
