Only six runs ahead at this stage probably isn't enough, given how Sussex finished. Might need a Fuller special.

There's half of those 50. Shame that we only have 8 balls to get the other half.

McManus really is crap.

The thing is though, he was also crap 20 minutes ago. That's why I gave this chase up once Fuller got out. 50 off 5 might not sound like much for decent batters. But McManus and Weatherley were never going to take down Mills and Jordan.

We deserved to lose that because of the fielding. No side should come away with a win when fielding that badly. It easily cost us the 13 runs which we lost by. Probably two or three times that amount.

It's a shame that we batted so well for 12 overs, and then hit a brick wall the moment Alsop got out. Our middle/lower order is terrible. But yeah, the poor fielding way, way trumps the lack of depth in the batting for me.

I'm hoping it will be vastly improved next season, I wasn't over enamoured by Afridi tonight either.

Put Rilee and Daws in for Weatherley and McManus and we win this at a canter...Donald missing too.
Weatherley and McManus are just not T20 players.

Sussex bowled really well too.

I'd like to think that once Munsey is back, it'll be McManus who makes way. Can easily throw Alsop the gloves.

That said, I don't know how long he is out for. Even just one more game might be too late. We need to win at least 4 of our last 5, and maybe all 5.

I think his first 3 overs were something like 0-21. Given that two of them were in the PP, I'm relaxed about that.

His 4th over was the poor one, but that largely came down to poor fielding. Wright should never have been there to take down that over - and to top it off, we even dropped him again for the umpteenth time early on in that over.

We might sneak in the back door but we have no chance of winning this trophy with our meagre resources this season.

Death bowling is his game, compared to Mills and Jordan he was pretty average tonight.

But Mills was bowling to McManus and Holland. Not to Luke Wright in the 70s.

Just thinking that even when he doesn't bowl, Fuller still manages to contribute massively to the defeat. Poor fielding then topped off by getting out to Briggs' last ball, for a mighty 4 off 7.

He looked disappointed himself with his last over, anyway Sussex showed how to bowl on that pitch tonight

Having slipped down behind Fuller in the order, I wonder if Lewis might now slip down behind Holland.

It partly depends on who is bowling at the time. Lewis has never been able to hit the seamers. Nor can he knock the ball around. His only shot is a big one into the leg side off a spinner (which at times he does pay very well). And alas, Sowter is the only spinner Middlesex have picked today.

Well as much as I defended him on Thursday, this has been really poor from Afridi.
