And that's what you get from Munro. 4s and 6s, and brainless cricket. No need to play that shot at all, but that's his game. Everything must go.

Worked for us last night, I guess he's got licence to do it in t20 with Northeast being more of an anchor type.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I buy into it. Just as I did with someone like Maxwell. You can't have your entire batting line-up batting like that, but one guy at the top is absolutely fine.

It was still brainless cricket though.

I'm not at all surprised that Essex have ditched Coles from their t20 side already, in an attempt to turn their season around (he was awfully expensive for us, and the fact that he can hit the odd 6 down the order is hardly of much assistance in t20). But I can't understand why they'd leave out Zaidi. Such a clean hitter.

Hmm, three down now. And all three big hitters. Need to build a partnership here (even if it's a little slow going), otherwise we'll end up way under par.

Our boundaries have come from just normal clean hits. Nothing fancy.

Whereas when we do try something fancy, we get out. No doubt Essex are learning from this.

So Essex's two fastest bowlers have gone around the park, whereas we're losing wickets and hardly scoring a run against their slower bowlers. (So, standard t20 then).

Good thing then that we've selected Fidel.

What's that now, about 30 runs only in the last 6 overs? Going nowhere thanks largely to those wickets.

Ludicrous decision from RTD to give that final over to Quinn. But for us, thank god he did.

Well done Sam.

So far this season here:

Sussex made 181, and Essex got nowhere close - but against a very strong bowling unit.

Middlesex made 179, and Essex got there off the penultimate ball.

Essex made 167, and Glamorgan got there off the last ball.

So on that basis we're in the game with 170.
