I do credit Vince for being brave and aggressive, for having a slip in for most of that over. But I think I would rather have plugged the gap.

Essex's game to lose at the moment. But a couple of wickets soon completely changes that.

That's a shocker from the umpire.

And that surely should have been one? There was a sound there?

Phew. Thankfully RTD didn't make the most of his reprieve.

Worst result all round. A tie is no use at all for either side. Both probably head out now.

Why? that extra point might make a difference in the end, surely better than no point.

This is why I love t20, the result could've gone either way in the last few overs, with Hants up and then Essex up the next....brilliant game!.

It's not the worst result for us. One point is obviously better than no points.

But all round, between both sides, the tie does very little. Rather than pushing one of us to near certain knockout, it pushes both us to near, near certain knockout. We're probably in a marginal better position than Essex, despite being a point behind, due to the game in hand. But for either of us to qualify now, it needs a small miracle. (And once again everyone else other than Middlesex is right in it, so putting a strong of wins together is very difficult. It's not like there's two or three low hanging fruit to sweep aside in a row.)

But yes, the game was great.

I don't know the stats, but that is surely a contender for greatest hattrick ever?

    Root, Williamson, Bairstow.

Two of those three are currently in the top five ranked batsmen in the whole world. And the third is inside the top 20.

    Wowzers

Our own Kev James' 4 in 4 balls against India wasn't too shabby, Sachin and Dravid were two of them I believe...
