They’re a top team & playing to make sure they don’t lose. That puts them top & in a vg position (weather wise).
A draw wouldn't be a bad result for us TBH. It would only put us a maximum of 8 points behind and we have the more favourable fixtures on paper.
I withheld my comment about Amla earlier but it looks like he's going to get a ton anyway* *reverse jinx
That's presumably the end of the day. Surrey, if not bowled out, will be level by about lunchtime tomorrow. Even if they don't go too much further beyond that, it'll still give them about three sessions to bowl out Northants and about two sessions to then chase down the score. Assuming no rain (I haven't checked).
BBC say no rain & pretty good light for next 2x days. Let’s hope the winds change & they get some of our weather!
At the other end of the table, I wonder how important Warks' failure to get that batting point might turn out to be.
Great, thanks Northants. Certainly now looks like it's a case of cue the Surrey 400+ first innings, bowling Northants out cheaply and then an easy win. All our hard work undone yet again. I hope I'm wrong but they're making batting look very easy at the moment.
We can't really get too annoyed about this - we've done exactly the same to many teams with Barker and Fuller down the order.
I was thinking that We’ve pulled victories out of sticky situations and that’s why we’re where we are
It is rather irritating but I don't think we can have a go at Northants given our tail managed to whack their bowling about to get max batting points last week and their batting collapsed twice to help us win. I was always expecting Surrey to win this game and at least Northants haven't made thigs easy for them.
