Essex again showing how much they rely on Chelmsford to get their results.

We have ourselves a Roses SF. Both group games between them were great, as they so often are.

This is not just a generalisation but incorrect, unless you are basing it on your experiences at Pompey in which case you would be correct. "Some" football fans might be more accurate because I know many people who go to footy and are very civilised. It's an easy comment to make because the behaviour of some reflects badly on the rest (majority). If you believed the media, and clubs continually telling you what they won't tolerate, you would think that football crowds are full of racist, homophobic louts which simply isn't the case. Most of today's racists are at home on their phones and laptops, those that are at games are seldom heard in my experience. Also don't forget there were accusations of racist comments coming from England fans at Edgbaston just last Monday at the cricket.
Having said that, I agree that you are much more likely to be tolerated as the opposition supporter at cricket than at football. The tribal culture at football is more developed for sure.
What does interest me though, is a lot of football fans also go to cricket but seem to conform to the cricket code of conduct when there.

Actually I've never come across much trouble at Portsmouth. The only time I've witnessed trouble was the two times Farnborough played woking. Yes, football is way more tribal but not just that, in my experience football fans are a lot more angry. Like they'll swear, they'll get really irate by whatever and it's like take a chill pill, you're gonna give yourself a heart attack. Maybe because cricket is a slower sport it just encourages people to be calmer. Also I could never imagine cricket fans chanting ****er at the umpire. But I suppose it helps there is an effective and we'll established video review system. But no way would I have so obviously celebrated at a football game on my own when surrounded by thousands of away fans. Maybe non-league, but the crowds tend to be in the hundreds there.

No, not lately I admit. Am I wrong? I get news about behaviour at cricket in the same way as I do about behaviour at football grounds, other than St Mary's, through the media.
Well I’m ST Saints & T20 Passport. Seen all the T20 home games & sat around singing Hants supporters & away fans. No animosity, no sniping & if anything, general laughter on both sides & of course spontaneous singing with the music. I always come away from the Bowl, win or lose with a general sense of pleasure. Youngsters playing cricket on the terraces, families, lads being lads but not louts & definitely lots of beer. Ps. Love football but the “terraces” & crowd are miles different. Just my opinion tho. Ps. Visit, highly recommended. The T20 passport cost £99 which works out £14 per game.
