Good luck seeing a better bowling performance than that. Seriously impressive.
I can't get over how well we bowled. Ellis is quality and we need to sign him up again for next season.
So I was at Hampshire v Birmingham last night. It was good to be able to see Hampshire now that I no longer have a home in the south and live in Coventry. It was a fun match though, shame Macfadden or whatever his name was got out so early, 61 from 30 odd balls isn't a bad knock. I feared Carlos braithwaite after ripping through our batters was also gonna tear us a new one with a bat, so I was relieved when he went out on 4. Plus I liked the fact that I could jump up and celebrate each Hampshire wicket (taken not lost) while surrounded by thousands of brummies and not have any issues. Cricket fans are so much more civilized than football fans. Also, if you're ever at edgbaston, the food isn't cheap but fairly decently quality and you do get pretty decent portions. The soft drink cans are a rip off though, as I let them know in the post match survey they sent me. As well as complaining that the Pimm's tents weren't open.
Overall a good win. And as an aside, I think now that Hampshire is not my actual home, supporting them in things like cricket kind of means more. It's not just the place that I live in anymore, it's my home 'inside' (if not literally), my history, my childhood, the place I grew up. It just means more. Anyway, sorry for the overly sentimentality-ness in a thread about cricket

Have you attended any 1st class cricket match lately? This is not just a generalisation but incorrect, unless you are basing it on your experiences at Pompey in which case you would be correct. "Some" football fans might be more accurate because I know many people who go to footy and are very civilised. It's an easy comment to make because the behaviour of some reflects badly on the rest (majority). If you believed the media, and clubs continually telling you what they won't tolerate, you would think that football crowds are full of racist, homophobic louts which simply isn't the case. Most of today's racists are at home on their phones and laptops, those that are at games are seldom heard in my experience. Also don't forget there were accusations of racist comments coming from England fans at Edgbaston just last Monday at the cricket.
Having said that, I agree that you are much more likely to be tolerated as the opposition supporter at cricket than at football. The tribal culture at football is more developed for sure.
What does interest me though, is a lot of football fans also go to cricket but seem to conform to the cricket code of conduct when there.
