What a weird, weird day. Surely our worst session of the entire season, followed by two of our very best sessions of the season. Can't call this match now.
Yep. It'll be 19-3 points taken from this match, but which way round? Hants 38.5, Warks 36, would be title charge on. Warks 52, Hants 22.5, would be title charge over.
I hope we're already in talks with Abbas about getting him back next year. Because if we don't, then somewhere else will. Obviously no-one knows for sure what the international calendar will ultimately look like. But going by the original schedule, between finishing against Australia in March, and starting against NZ in November, Pakistan's only test cricket is two tests against SL in July/August. So his availability for Championship cricket (and potentially 50 over cricket) could be even greater than for this season.
Abbott and Abbas backed up by Barker and a fast improving Wheal and a good variety of options with Holland, Dawson, Crane and Organ would be fantastic for next season in the CC.
That's the bowling sorted, now to improve the batting. Hopefully Gubbins and Vince make a formidable 4 and 5.
This may be me misrembering the TMS commentary, but I'm sure that they said that India do not have two spinners in their current team. This is no guarantee of anything, but we may see Kohli practising a few deliveries, this morning....
That was my point. They have once again left out Ravichandran Ashwin, one of the greatest spin bowlers in the world.
Obviously something has kicked off behind the scenes. I reckon he’s had a fall out with Kohli. It can’t have just been selectors as Kohli would have had the power to overrule. All very strange tho.
Pitch looks to have completely flattened out at Edgbaston. Warwickshire will be kicking themselves as it's looking like a great day to bat.
Hameed’s fault, there wasn’t really a run there. The best thing about Malan’s dismissal is that we don’t have another left handed batsman until Moeen comes in. After that it’s just Jimmy, and if it comes to that we’ve lost anyway.
I'm watching Hants v Warks on my laptop, and listening to England v India on the radio. The sun is shining here (the northern part of Hampshire), and life doesn't get much better. As long as Hampshire and England both win.
