According to Cricinfo Glamorgan v Hants is in the North Group. Anyway Hants win toss and bat. Not sure about that.
Wheater still missing with illness (as he was for the irrelevant game on Friday night) is huge. Throw in Vince, Carberry and Ervine, and that's four of our top five missing for what is a huge game. Yes Alsop has come in and done well, and yes Dawson has taken on the responsibility well of batting higher up the order, but that is still a huge chunk taken out of our team. You feel that McManus is finally going to have to score some runs given that Crane is one of two guys coming in, thereby re-lengthening our tail as it was against Kent. I'd have been inclined to go with Taylor myself, who can hold a bat (and it's not like we need many overs from them. Ervine might not have even bowled had he been available).
Interesting to hear the Glamorgan commentator say that tomorrow's forecast for their game vs Surrey isn't looking good. So long as we win this, then a washout between them and Surrey would be brilliant for us (conversely, if we lose this, it would be an awful outcome for us).
Obviously would have been nice to have not lost Adams, but that's a solid enough first 10 overs. Especially because I do rate Glamorgan's seam attack, and it is an 11am start, on a green looking pitch, next to the sea.
Big blow to lose Alsop there. Doesn't sound too dissimilar to yesterday's pitch at Taunton, so we could have done with Alsop replicating Abel's innings and just batting through for a safe 100. Plus with a frail batting line up, a collapse could be round the corner at any point. 250 could be a winnable score here (even though you'd like to target 270+).
Weatherley ahead of Dawson is interesting. I guess this way gives Joe more time to settle in. But it does mean he's immediately facing their best bowler in Hogan.
Another man gets in, and gets out. Ordinarily you'd say it supports the case for a difficult pitch, but it's been a story of our season, so it might just be us. Either way, it increases the need for Smith to bat deep.
12 overs is still a long time, and aside from McLaren there isn't much left to come which can be relied upon. I'd like to see Dawson accelerate a little now, but I'm happy for Smith to carry on like this for another 5 overs.
Frustrating thing about Gloucs' poor score so far isn't just that you'd expect Kent to pick up the two points, but also there's every chance of them improving their NRR quite nicely. Still difficult to know ahead of tomorrow and Tuesday whether an Essex win or a Middlesex win is the best result for us.
As the 2s in this partnership has illustrated, the benefit of having these two together is that we have two whippets running between the wickets.
Good, I was waiting for van der Gugten to come back on. Given his economy so far, his final two overs are surely ones to really target. (Even though he too is a good bowler)
