Four day match against Australia A, starting a week on Sunday (the WC final). So clashes with us playing Kent, and Somerset playing Yorkshire, but finishes the day before the t20s start. I very much doubt we'll lose anyone to the Lions (unless England have been knocked out the WC, and the selectors fancy Vince or Dawson appearing for the Lions). But the likes of Crawley and Denly could be missing for Kent, which would be handy.
Credit to England, they've delivered in these 2 games under real pressure. And, rather ominously for everyone else, they've had their dodgy spell.
Just got in and was pleased to see we'd won....thought we might have come up short. As said, we are now coming into form.
I booked next Thursday off work this morning, glad I don't have to cancel it tomorrow. Well done England
Sky to show World Cup final free to air if England get there Here's some news for you, Sky Sports have this morning announced that the World Cup final on 14 July will be shown live on free-to-air television should England get there. International Cricket Council chief executive David Richardson said earlier this month talks were ongoing. Full details of how the game would be broadcast have not been revealed.
Easiest way would be to just let Channel 4 show it live, after all they have the highlights package with the same commentators.
BBC article been updated now. Likely to be on Channel 4 but they also have the rights to show the British GP live on that day. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/48881926
Talk about a bumper Sunday of sport. CWC final, Wimbledon final and British GP! Going to need 3 pairs of eyes!
If they want to put it on "TV", then using Pick would seem to be the logical choice. After all, Pick is a freeview channel owned by Sky. There's no chance that C4 will move the British GP, and I can't see Sky being happy with C4 using More4 to show the final instead. But my assumption is that Sky won't put it on "TV". I imagine they'd make the Now TV one-day sports pass available for free on the day of the final, because of course that then opens up the possibility that some people then decide to get Now TV on a regular basis (ie income for Sky). And of course ironically, the British GP being on C4 that day is somewhat handy in that respect, because they'd be no loss of revenue for Sky of people getting the free pass in order to watch the GP instead. I doubt anyone would have otherwise chosen to pay for a Now TV pass that day, in order to watch the GP, given it's free availability on C4.
Has anyone watched any of these ? I really like them . https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=25 questions with cricketers
Interesting that we still haven't yet named our squad for tomorrow. I wonder if, due to the injuries to Alsop and Weatherley and the form of Soames, we're still debating on who to select. Organ and Taylor both scored 100s for the 2nd XI during the week, with Berg getting a 70. Obviously McManus couldn't play, becaue he was filling in a sub-keeper at Taunton. (A small part of me is also hoping that we're trying to arrange a last minute loan signing, but I haven't heard anything.) Annoying that this game didn't come a week earlier. Warks had every single first team seamer injured vs Kent. The four seamers they picked were two loanees, one trialist, and one youth player. Whereas for us, Stone, Brookes and Hannon-Dalby are all back (the rest remain injured).
Squad has finally been named. Hopefully we'll line up: McManus, Donald, Rahane, Northeast, Rossouw, Berg, Fuller, Barker, Abbott, Crane, Edwards.
So two changes for injury (Weatherley and Alsop), two changes for form (Soames and Crane), and one change for rotation (Fuller - we did say a few weeks ago that we envisage Fuller and Berg sharing that 4th seamer role). Safe to say that Holland-Organ is a makeshift pair, but good luck to them both. They can hardly do any worse! (Although having taken the decision to leave out Crane, I'd have personally gone Taylor rather than Holland in order to ensure that we still have a spinner in the team.) God knows why Warks have chosen to bowl first. Decent weather for batting, and no-one wants to face Jeetan in the fourth innings.
As I said, it really is just our luck at the moment that Warks get Stone back this week. Excellent bowler. Ever since Hales got himself into trouble, nothing has really gone our way.
I know we've got issues at the top of the order, but choosing to bowl first could really come back to haunt Warwickshire. Crazy decision in my book.
Dare I say it, but Holland is playing like a proper opener. Dug in to start with, not doing anything flash, just seeing off the new ball. And now, over an hour later, starting to cash in. Granted, Ben Mike is a very poor bowler (he's on loan from Leicester - when you can't even get into Leicester's team...), but you can only face the person put in front of you.
