Excellent final two overs. Until then, we'd just stagnated slightly and were at risk of a slightly disappointing score. But I'm very happy with 220.

Our NRR takes a small drop, from +1.071 to +0.961. But it shouldn't be anything to be worry.

To put into context the task ahead of Kent tomorrow, if they were to bat first, I think they would need to win by more than 300 runs to catch us. (If I've done the maths right!)

Lancs' win tonight puts them in a good position to win the North group. In theory they could yet finish 2nd, but more likely is that the winner of Durham v Northants tomorrow will finish 2nd.

If we do indeed finish 3rd, then out of those three teams I think I would most prefer to play Durham.

Glamorgan, Surrey and Essex all off to flying starts. It might yet be that Sussex and Kent both miss out, with Glamorgan jumping them both.

Surrey v Northants
Somerset v Birmingham
Durham v Hants
Lancs v Kent

As I mentioned the other day, the matches clash with the England v SA ODI series. But with the likes of Salt, Livingstone, Curran and Topley somewhat out of favour, there might not be as many players missing the QFs as would have been the case in previous years.

The good news for us is that Potts and Carse were both in the most recent ODI squad.

I can see it being 3 southern teams and Lancashire in the finals but anything could happen in a knockout match.

Agreed. And Kent will have Crawley back, so that'll make them stronger. It could yet be another all-southern finals day. There's a possibility that Kent might be the only QF side who have their full squad available. (Even Somerset, who often aren't impacted, will be at risk of Banton being in the ODI squad.)
