Until Ingram and latterly Cooke are out though, I'm not going to feel that we're right back in this game yet. But great start, absolutely.
I did suggest it was little more than a couple of early wickets. No doubt Afridi will be the moment the PP is over. His four overs, naturally, will be key.
Two games out of three that we were never really involved in (and were it not for Afridi and Sammy, it would have been three out of three). Serious issues in the batting.
So long as Wheater coverts it from here, I'm not too fussed at a slow start from him. And Alsop can't be expected to blast it to all parts in only his second List A game. Better this than the 40-4 that we were at home to Essex last season, which pretty much ruined the other 90 overs of the match.
I was on more about Wheater. Alsop was going at 2 runs off every 3 balls until he got going. Wheater 1 off 3. He wasn't rotating the strike enough. But he's getting on with it now.
10 overs of powerplay though. Not easy to rotate the strike when so many fielders are in the circle. It's dots, 4s and 6s - and lost wickets. Not too much surprise that 1s and 2s have been so much easier since the 10th over (plus some boundaries now that Alsop is settled).
270 should be a minimum from here, but 300 is still on if someone comes off (be it one of these two, or someone like Ervine).
I think our batting issues this season, plus the extra man out on the boundary for the last 10 overs, is making me damper my expectations somewhat. But absolutely a top international side would be cruising past 300 from here.
