Another Thursday-Friday double header coming up for next. First a trip to Lords (the first time we have ever played a t20 vs Middlesex at Lords, rather than at an outground, I believe), followed by a home match against our neighbours Sussex.

The ODI series will still be taking place, so Morgan, Finn and Jordan will all be unavailable. Jayawardene I understand played his last game for Sussex today. And Ireland are playing Scotland in a couple of t20s, so presumably Stirling will be unavailable (unfortunately Joyce and Murtugh have both just retired from Ireland t20 duty).

Win them both, and we'll have one foot in the QFs (for the seventh year running!) Even just one win will still us very well placed.

It's be interesting if it's Bird or Berg who comes in for Fidel. I suspect they'd like to use it to get some more overs under Bird's belt. But he's been expensive in both formats so far, and Berg was brilliant with bat and ball in the Championship this week.
Nice info St. Brendy - I think I'll try to get to Lords Thursday eve. Should be another cracking game & hopefully will firmly establish Hants top of South. "Sadly" I'll miss the Sussex game on Friday as I'll be at Wembly with Foo Fighters ! :emoticon-0140-rofl::emoticon-0169-dance

  • England won the toss and decided to bat
England

Umpires: N J Llong, BNJ Oxenford, J Srinath, S J Davis

Cue jokes about who will get their Willey out?

Really excited to see Willey given a chance. Although I wouldn't say his bowling is outstanding, I don't think it's worse than Jordan's. I'm interested to see how it goes. But crucially, he's probably the best English bowling all-rounder in the county game (given that Stokes is a batting all-rounder). Certainly he's better than Broad, Bresnan, (Chris) Wood, Barker, Napier (these days - Napier's batting, and bowling for that matter, is not what it once was) etc with the bat.

I hope Willey doesn't just bat for Stokes here. Wood and Finn can do that. Willey will hopefully play his normal, aggressive game.

LOL .

I honestly wondered if anyone could do something with his name ! Who is the commentator ?

Are you not aware of the old "The batsman's Holding, the bowler's Willey" line from TMS, back in the day? It's probably the most famous line of cricket commentary ever. Indeed, after "They think it's all over..." it's surely one of the most famous line's of sports commentary ever.

I am , but I thought I had missed something and that there was a commentator called holding , Hence my Question to Tom :-)

Oh god, two Surrey players have collided going for a catch, both injured with one apparently unconscious.
