We can criticise Wood's economy all we like, but Coles is equally - if not more - expensive. I really did not shed a tear when we let him back to Kent.

Don't think Vince will care much that he finishes on 99 not out! Bit cruel that! But still, incredible from him. It should be noted he batted all the way through the innings against Somerset as well but he was nowhere near as good then.

That replaces his chasing knock vs Warks in 2010 as Vince's 2nd best t20 innings, in my book (it's still behind his QF chasing knock last year vs Notts, even though that was ever so slightly lower than his score here).

Hey, you are slagging off the hard work of my colleagues! ;)

But ask yourself this...We've all seen examples where one side of the road is having rain whilst the other is not, so imagine how difficult that sort of variability is to model even for the next hour let alone in a 5 day forecast.
Underpaid @ the Met Office - Stu

I didn't know you worked in the Met Office, Stu.? Yes, we have all seen examples of one side of the road being rained on and the other not. I have certainly seen the rest of the Southern region covered in several foot of snow and there being dry roads and bright sunshine in Southampton.! I can well imagine how difficult it is to forecast. It just makes me giggle that now they are trying to do 10 day forecasts. It is almost meaningless in the Test Valley. No kidding, all this week I have seen the Weather app declare that it will be light rain, then just cloud, then light rain, then sunny periods, then sun/showers, then full sun, then back to light rain. Today we had cloud, then light rain which turned to quite heavy rain by mid-afternoon. A friend of mine was trying to get a pair of exotic exhausts off his AVS400 Yamaha, thinking that all he would suffer was light rain. He had to abandon it halfway through. Serves him right for doing it out in the open, of course.

But never mind. I do appreciate the Met Office's task. I just wish they wouldn't predict with such certainty in places like Southampton, because we are a weather region unto ourselves. :)

Hants now sit top of the South Group, having played 2 games less than Essex in 2nd and 1 game less than Kent in 3rd..

Another Thursday-Friday double header coming up for next. First a trip to Lords (the first time we have ever played a t20 vs Middlesex at Lords, rather than at an outground, I believe), followed by a home match against our neighbours Sussex.

The ODI series will still be taking place, so Morgan, Finn and Jordan will all be unavailable. Jayawardene I understand played his last game for Sussex today. And Ireland are playing Scotland in a couple of t20s, so presumably Stirling will be unavailable (unfortunately Joyce and Murtugh have both just retired from Ireland t20 duty).

Win them both, and we'll have one foot in the QFs (for the seventh year running!) Even just one win will still us very well placed.

It's be interesting if it's Bird or Berg who comes in for Fidel. I suspect they'd like to use it to get some more overs under Bird's belt. But he's been expensive in both formats so far, and Berg was brilliant with bat and ball in the Championship this week.
