A well-worn Great Western 'Grange' 6874 'Haughton Grange' was a surprise arrival at New Milton at the head of an inter-regional service from Manchester to Bournemouth. This service was normally hauled by a Stanier Class 5. The train was spot on time!
Ex-GWR 4-6-0 Grange class No 6879 'Overton Grange' is seen at the head of the Saturdays only Weymouth to Wolverhampton service on 20th June 1964. Built at Swindon works to Lot 308 in May 1939, No 6879 was to remain in service until October 1965 when it was withdrawn from Tyseley shed (2A) to be scrapped in March 1966 by G Cohen of Kettering.
