please log in to view this image Hearing the clank of a signal being pulled off Peter looked over the wall near Brierley Hill station and pointed his camera at filthy, wheezing 6678 pulling away from that station. Behind the train is a typical Black Country skyline with crames and chimneys and a collection of 1930's council houses, some sporting the big X TV antenna of the day, the hills are a mix of natural and man-made.

Built at Swindon works in October 1928, No 6681 was to remain in service until October 1965 when it was withdrawn from 2A Tyseley shed to be scrapped by J Cashmore's of Great Bridge.

A Type 9 train depicted a 'Branch train or stopping freight train and Officers' Special train or ballast train requiring to stop in section. Maximum speed 35 mph. Where fitted vehicles are required to be placed next to the engine and coupled up, this will be shown in the appropriate regional train loading instructions'. The 56xx class locomotive had been built by Swindon works in October 1928 and was to remain in service until October 1965 when it was withdrawn from 6C Croes Newydd shed to be scrapped by J Cashmores of Great Bridge.

Having arrived at Methyr in January 1964 from Duffryn Yard it was withdrawn from service in April 1964 and sold for scrap to Woodham Brothers.
