476 September 4 – : Romulus Augustus, Roman usurper of the Western Roman Empire, is deposed by Odoacer at Ravenna. Odoacer spares the boy's life and gives him a pension of 6,000 solidii but exiles him to the "Castellum Lucullanum" (Castel dell'Ovo), on the island of Megaride, in the Gulf of Naples. A Soliddi was a gold coin of about 4.5g, so 6000 would weigh 27Kg. At today's gold price of around $1300/oz that's the equivalent of $1,235,520 or £778,280. Not a bad pay off.

The British Rail Class 483 electrical multiple units were originally built as 1938 tube stock units for London Underground. They were extensively refurbished between 1989 and 1992 by Eastleigh Works, for use on services on the Isle of Wight's Island Line. This was despite having already worked for nearly fifty years on the London Underground. The units replaced the even older and life-expired Class 485 and Class 486 units, which were introduced in 1967, but were originally built as 'Standard' stock units for the London Electric Railway in 1923. The stock is around 75 years old, making it the oldest type in Great Britain to remain in regular service and South West Trains currently has no plans to replace them.

In the year 486 Battle of Soissons: Frankish forces under king Clovis I defeat the Gallo-Roman kingdom of Soissons (Gaul). Roman rule under Syagrius ends. The land between the Somme and the Loire becomes a part of the Frankish Empire. Syagrius flees to the Visigoths (under king Alaric II), but Clovis threatens war and he is handed over for execution. U-487 U-487 conducted two patrols. As a supply boat, she avoided combat.[2] 1st patrol The U-boat departed Kiel on 27 March 1943, heading for the mid-Atlantic. She arrived in Bordeaux, in occupied France on 12 May. 2nd patrol and loss Her second patrol saw her leave Bordeaux on 15 June 1943. On 13 July, U-487 was attacked in the central Atlantic by five United States Navy TBF Avengers and F4F Wildcats from the escort carrier Core (CVE-13). The U-boat's crew were taken by surprise, so much so that sunbathers were seen on the casing.[4] One Wildcat was shot down, but 31 men were killed and the U-boat sunk. The 33 survivors were taken prisoner onboard USS Barker (DD-213).[2]
