In the year 392 Theodosius I becomes the last emperor who rules the whole Roman Empire. He issues an edict reinforcing the prohibition of prayers or sacrifices at non-Christian temples. He also bans items of spiritual significance that could be used in the home such as incense or spiritual figures.

I'm beginning to sense that 3rd Eye is some kind of expert on late Roman antiquity and am finding this thread extremely fascinating seeing all this information strung out in this fashion. I believe that you mind have missed out the battle in , I think, 296 AD , when the Roman Constantius led an invasion against Allectus in Britain that resulted in a battle outside of Portchester. Odd that this didn't get picked up by you Portsmouth fans !

As someone who loves history, I must admit that I have always found "the Dark Ages" a bit mystifying as it is caught between the Romans and the medieval period. This thread is actually really interesting and educative. I'm surprised by some of the information posted here and this is probably the best thread you've ever had on this board! I think you will come unstuck from 410-onwards and will find the next 400 years a bit of a challenge if you want to stick with history as you will have run out of historians / chroniclers for this period. Still, you could probably get Kanu's birthday in !

That's really kind of you to say Thummers.............. unfortunately 3rd eye is just a cheat who either a) nips over to wikipedia or b) goes to Page 73 of this board and looks up the previous counting thread :emoticon-0136-giggl

Pity I didn't find the information about Portchester Castle though......... would have earned me a few brownie points !

Year 399 (CCCXCIX) was a common year starting on Saturday (link will display the full calendar) of the Julian calendar. At the time, it was known as the Year of the Consulship of Eutropius and Theodorus (or, less frequently, year 1152 Ab urbe condita). The denomination 399 for this year has been used since the early medieval period, when the Anno Domini calendar era became the prevalent method in Europe for naming years.

.410 bore, commonly misnamed the .410 gauge, is the smallest gauge of shotgun shell commonly available. It has similar base dimensions to the .45 Colt revolver cartridge, though the .410 is significantly longer, up to 3 inches (76 mm), allowing many single-shot firearms and some revolvers chambered in that caliber to fire shot without any modifications.

Your turn SB3....
