I was out for a pint with some 'young 'uns' (well, mid 30s) last week and we was chatting about what we used to get for Christmas as kids.

They wouldn't believe that I got a children's smoking set every year.

I went through a disinterested in Christmas phase.
As OLM said having Grandkids does bring the magic back.
One’s just turned 5 and is massively into it this year.
He’s believing in Santa (not my fault. I’ve been very clear it’s a Pagan festival celebrating the days starting to get longer & lighter again) so we took him to my Mum’s as the Roundtable Santa Sleigh was going past.
He understands that there are ‘fake’ ones though.
Picked him up to go

Him “Will it be the real Santa or a fake Santa like in shops?”
Me “I’m not sure. Probably the real one”
Him “Hmm…I’ll look and see”
Me “How will you know?”
Him “…Cos fake Santa’s have string on their ears holding their beard on”
Me “Ahhh…oh well we’ll have to see won’t we”

Turns out it was the real one after all, which was good news.

2 kids and their partners, and 4 grandkids at ours with us over Christmas.

It’ll be chaos but I’m happy with that.

Really liked that stuff but only seemed to get it when a friend bought it - no money.

I loved it,it was my sweet of choice and paved the way for my love of Golden Virginia/Amber Leaf/Drum/Old Holborn and Cutters Choice.

Haven't had a great year myself with one thing and another but I stick to the old adage 'there's always someone worse off,with bigger problems than myself'..It's extremely apt.
