Yeah still enjoy the old town pubs with proper ale and oldie type atmosphere. And even then agree couldn't stand at the bar all night. Is that old age or shifting cultures?

Nope, life changes and you with it, sometimes it doesn't sit well with friends but let them do their own thing and go your own way, just be you.

Hey hang on, don't write me off.
Can I just clarify
  • by oldie pubs, I meant old fashioned not for oldies.
  • I could stand at the bar, just choose not to. Never did in in my prime.
  • you're wrong, the correct answer was actually 'shifting cultures'

Admire your resolve askew cos after today I'm going to get pissed tonight. I've already had a few this afternoon.
I can't even work out what day it is. It feels like a saturday

Ha, yeah I never built in City induced depressions. Just want to do a month, realised I have probably never done that since before I was legal to drink (so getting on for 40 years).
Haven't a clue what I'm suppose to drink, I've never had to think about it!. Although was thinking after recent spirit drinking, beer is almost classed as a soft drink.

You can go down the Horlicks / cocoa route; there's mileage in that. If you check out any large supermarket's range you'll be able to sample a different flavour every day for a month. Salted caramel and buttered popcorn are currently selling well. The problem is that after a few days you'll be snuggled up on the sofa of an evening, in a onesie, watching re-runs of The Gilmore Girls on Netflix.

Another thought is to recreate alcoholic drinks as close as you can without actually putting alcohol in them. There's alcohol free beer of course but somehow this seems like cheating. Or what about Virgin cocktails? Although I can see that leading to the sofa / onesie / Netflix box set situation.

I often just drink tonic on its own. I mean, it's not nice but at least you can kid yourself that there's gin in it. Or add an elderflower cordial. Or chew hops. Or something.

Anyway, good luck for the month.

I can see askew in a tiger onesie snuggled,up holding the cup with both hands Ernie. I really can. With Dennis looking through the window shaking his head and trudging off through the snow... sad sad scene
