Now this is the type of response my question deserved.I'm gonna do Cosmopolitans for pre-lunch / present opening drinks this year.
So currently have the peel of some limes, lemons and an orange steeping in a high quality Ukrainian vodka.
Cointreau in the cupboard, cranberry juice in the fridge, limes in the fruit bowl, all ready.
And if any guests are suffering from cystitis, it's basically medicine.
Love Ernie the thoughtful and caring host. xx

Not like @Chazz Rheinhold trying to encourage me support a cruel dairy industry.
I do like a Cosmopolitan, but I’ve never steeped the fruit…interesting.
Personally I like a Vodka Martini with olives as an aperitif, but do occasionally go Silver Bullet too so I have plenty of lemons, and a bottle of Kümmel liqueur to go with a nice gin.
Leave it a week??? I don’t understand …im from east hull…drink immediately surely??You can buy citrus vodka but it's no doubt chemically enhanced and hasn't been anywhere near a lemon or a lime.
It's a piece of piss to make your own. Vodka + peel (avoid the pith it's too bitter) + a small amount of sugar. Leave it for a week then strain.
Top tip: Keep it in the freezer. Serve in a cocktail or over ice. Last resort, add a dash of tonic.
