So we are pretty much down now, this season has been a long slow miserable painful death with the only highlights for me being the cup game away to Watford where Josh Murphy and Hooper came on to dramatically score with wonderful goals, the Hooper thunderball against Swansea and Tetty`s peach of a volley .
I have every right to feel short changed, yes we had some amazing 0- 0s but when you count these as classic games you really have been starved of quality or entertainment.
Taking a look at Sunderland & Fulham`s last few matches i have conceded we are toast and i would rather not have the last flicker of light from our burnt out candle finally snuffed out by Arsenal at home .
Preparing yourself for the worst is my only saving grace and watching Ipswich fall short of the play-offs yesterday at least gave us the Old Farm derby to look forward to, it is also cheaper to watch lower league sides and easier to get tickets.
Whoever we get in to manage us next season he will be given 100% backing from all of us and unite our amazing loyal fan base once more, something we desperately need if this forum is anything to go by.
We will start getting goals again and win away from home and this will be a habit that we will need to instill if we return to the Premier league in the near future.
I actually have a sense of excitement about next season and apart from the 45 seconds a week coverage after MOTD that us minnows will get i have no other bad feelings about the step down in class.
We must be sure to keep our wage structure in check and not gamble on an instant return other than that our beloved club is in a really good state ,probably better than any other outside the Premier league.

If we do go on and nick a win against Arsenal with the others all fluffing their lines then brilliant, but we don`t deserve to be in this league and we don`t deserve to go down with the players at our disposal .
Make of that as you will....

OTBC Never mind the danger we will always sing our hearts out and back our team that`s why we are proud to support this great club.

I agree with a lot of this but the bit in bold is nonsense. If we get more points or have sufficient goal difference to survive on the final day, then we did better than three clubs and deserve what we get. Not gonna happen though, so when we finish in the bottom three we will deserve to have gone down!

Bah!

The bit in bold is somewhat presumptuous considering a lot of our "amazing loyal fans" didn't give the previous manager anything like their "100% backing" throughout his tenure.

A nice sentiment of course, but simply nonsense to just assume that it will become a reality.

I think you'll find that if the new gaffer sets them up with a positive mindset and the ethos of let's try and win this, rather than let's try not to lose, the vast majority of fans - both at the game and expats / message boarders, etc will give him 100% backing and support from the word go <ok>

With the caveat that it is successful of course.

Posted this on the 'optimist' thread but I'll stick it here too as it's fairly relevant:

Off the back of my 'worse case scenario' post concerning our squad next season, here's the list I ended up with of players we would retain:
GKs
Bunn
Rudd
Defs
Whittaker
Martin
R.Bennett
Olsson
Garrido
Mids
Johnson
Howson
E.Bennett
Redmond
McGeehan
Surman
Jo.Murphy
Ja.Murphy
Strks
Hooper
Becchio
Loza

Here is a selection of decent Championship players that are out of contract this year and that I think could potentially add some depth to that squad:

Defs
Elliott Ward (Bournmouth)
Mids
David Vaughan (Forest)
Chris Eagles (Bolton)
Andre Moritz (Bolton)
Stuart Holden (Bolton)
Danny Ward (Huddersfield)
Strks
Will Buckley (Brighton)
Matt Derbyshire (Forest)

What do people reckon to some of those?

Better hope and pray we don't get Malky then!

Sounds like a job for Lambert and Culverhouse<whistle>

Is there a manager that everyone would unite behind? Even Lambert had his critics at the end. I guess results will determine fan unification. Look at Pulis as an example of a manager the fans didn't want initially.

Pep Guardiola

Seriously, I like Laudrup or Steve Clarke.

I would like to develop a style that will give us an identity and footballing culture.

Bah!

Obviously on paper if we have more points than the bottom 3 we deserve to keep our status, but i have felt we were out of our depth for most of this season and think we deserve to go down .

This is absolutely key, and a point the pro-Hughton brigade just do not understand.

We will not build anything without it, fan base, stadia, squad quality, success, long term progress. Paul Lambert gave us a progressive identity, Mike Walker gave us an identity, John Bond, Ken Brown. Even Allardyce and the wretched Pullis give their sides identity.

We became lost a long time ago.

The rebuilding for next season starts now, whoever thinks they are too good for Norwich after the performances they put in this season should be shown the door and anyone left who wants to stick around and fight for the shirt should step up.
We need to integrate the youth team and start playing the Norwich way again .
Absolute disaster from start to finish this season and i will not be buying the DVD .
