Prepping for a month trip to the vineyard.. One lot of kids already left... Spending a week in the Auvergne too which I am looking forward to and have never visited before..
We leave first thing Thursday and will be spending a day visiting d day landings en route..

We pass through Caen three or four times a year and Mme has never seen any of it... I have been to the pegasus bridge museum and been along the coast a couple of times.... and never been to the bayeux museum either.....so looking forward to itThe D day landings are well worth a visit, also the WW2 war Memorial Museum in Caen.

Yes we have been in Ouistreham many times.. Often overnight here.. And get the morning ferry... We stay at the ibis styles on the way over and the budget ibis in herouville on the way back.. We have got through most Ouistreham eateries too...We stay in benouville when coming back from our cottage if it's in holiday season)cos the overnight ferry is too late for us. The glycine hotel has a superb dining room, and breakfast is extra, so we skip that and get 0830 ferry. The coast is interesting everywhere- bay of rather Somme has superb bird life. The museum in Caen is excellent. We are in Filey, missing La belle France somewhat. Might be leaving uk for good if things carry on as they are!
yep that Ibis could not be more convenient for the ferry.Yes we have been in Ouistreham many times.. Often overnight here.. And get the morning ferry... We stay at the ibis styles on the way over and the budget ibis in herouville on the way back.. We have got through most Ouistreham eateries too...
I have just realised that I am off to Headingly for the second day of the test and will be travelling back on Saturday 3pm train so am thinking I could listen to the commentary on the train. Can someone enlighten me how I can listen to John Marks please, providing I can get hooked up to the "free" wifi on Crossrail without giving up too much personal information.
Many thanks.
