I know we don't do much work, out here in the colonies, Ak, but it is only Monday evening!

Morning all, a grey but very mild Monday in rural France. Thanks for the coffee ak, I need something to get me attacking the mud and lathe floor in my barn again. Yesterday while laying new boards my foot went through the old layer again. It really had become dangerous as I have a lot of materials stored up there, which means moving them around before putting down the new floor. :(

We do not want the EU but they want us. The Frontex organisation have hired the boat Týr from LHG, our coast guard service, for two months to help stop people crossing to Europe from Africa. I hope now we are without defence the British fishermen do not start any funny business.

Morning all, dry and warm here today, but some light rain might arrive later. :(

Off to my French class this morning where I will tell them about one of the few remaining hats owned by Napoléon being sold recently for €1.8 M to a private person. The two pointed hat was worn by him side to side rather than front to back so that he could be easily spotted on the field of battle. There is a society of admirers here with more than 4,000 members. Don't know what they do, but food and drink will be involved. ;)

Mrs H says she was a fan in her youth. Glad to say she is no longer drawn to short men (if that's not a myth) with a liking for battles. Mind you, I've occasionally had to banish her to the upstairs TV to watch yet more chef programmes and she's being bought a biography of the aforementioned Corsican for Christmas.

When I was hitch hiking around Lebanon in the late 70s during the civil war, I got a ride from a guy who told me that there had been 3 truly great men in history - Jesus Christ, Napoleon, and Hitler. The guy was Lebanese Christian whose militia got much of their funding from Israel.
