Morning all. Today there has been quite a change in the weather. The lovely sunshine of the past few days has been replaced with heavy cloud, and we have just had a brief shower. Talks to end to pay dispute between the tanker drivers and Total have reached the stage where the unions are saying agree to talks and we will call the strike off. Total are saying call the strike off, then we will start talks. The annual pay discussions are due to take place next month anyway, so this appears to be a bit of running around in circles. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Overcast and showers are likely, but quite mild. My internet connection is now down for the seventh day, and despite being told it would be restored by last night, still nothing. A nice large new connection box has been fitted to an electricity pole and wires are going into it, so maybe it is not this end that is still disconnected. The information that has just come through is that it should be working again by Thursday 20th, so it looks like the phone will have to continue to be my hotspot. So far I have used 10 gigabits of the 200 they gave me. Having streamed several football games I think it might last. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Strange thing happened last night while I was watching an episode of the old TV show Lewis on BritBox. I couldn’t put a name to an actress in the episode, so thought I could find out by Googling the cast of the episode/series number. Started typing in ‘Cast of….’ and Google immediately inserted the rest of my question for me. Does anyone know how on earth that happens?

Freaky stuff - not only is Big Brother watching me, he’s watching with me…

Its all the nano robots injected into you via the COVID vaccine (according to the YouTube experts who couldn't make a full brain cell between them)

More likely you have become too predictable, do you have conversation with Alexa when she/it has approached you with a question

Have never had the pleasure of 'using' Alexa, either to ask or respond to her/it. There is a little button on my firestick remote which I can apparently press to ask a question, but I've never been inclined to press it.

Morning all. Cloudy but dry and the sun is expected to break through shortly. We had to do a shopping trip to Limoges yesterday, and while we were out at midday decided to go to a restaurant we have been to in the past, but not for three years. It has survived, although with less staff, and the prices have jumped up a bit. In the shopping mall there are many empty shops now, and you do wonder how many more are clinging on by their finger nails. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Grey but dry currently, although showers are forecast in these parts today. Quite unexpectedly our internet returned yesterday afternoon, and during the evening a text came through to say it was working, something I had discovered when the first sales call came through on the phone. I am not sure I have gained anything as the internet speed is the same as before they started work, but it is twice the speed against being connected via my mobile phone. With that work done maybe they will be able to open the road again to the next village. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Grey and damp outside, so better go and do the supermarket shop. Mme. persuaded me last week that we had enough in the freezer to get by with, so no shop last week, but we have a list now as long as your arm of things that we need that are not frozen. I don't like shopping, but needs must. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Grey and damp, though it doesn't appear to be raining. I found that the bread dispenser was almost empty when I arrived. You sometimes see that a home help will be there with a list of loaves for her customers, and will take out half a dozen items. A small loaf is €0.40 cheaper than in the local supermarket, so in addition to saving on the bread you also save travelling costs. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. A lovely blue sky once more adding to the cheer of last night. My youngest granddaughter has her birthday today, so will be joining her later for a small family celebration. She is 15 years old, and French is her first language having come here before she went to school. Although they speak English at home she has to ask what an English word means from time to time. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Morning all. Grey with showers, but very mild. If I needed a reminder about the changing seasons it came yesterday as around 60 cranes circled overhead for some time before getting back into their arrow shaped formation and heading south. They are early this year, we often don't see them until well into November. I do hope this is not a forecast of a long cold winter ahead. Have a good day everyone. <ok>

Same here - watched a skein of geese heading south yesterday. The recent much cooler weather may have tricked them into thinking that winter was already here.

As Farage might say - with all the illegals crossing the Channel you might need a crane or two to lift you over.;)

    Enjoy the trip...

Morning all. Our weather is odd at the moment. Temperatures during the day are more like summer, 27°C, and just before I went to bed last night there was a violent storm for half an hour. If this is strange I came across something about the Championship that also looks unusual.

Burnley (1st) more draws than wins
Blackburn (5th) 0 draws, more losses than Coventry (24th)
    Reading (6th) have a -5 GD
Preston (13th) scored *and* conceded fewer goals than anyone
    1-5 separated by 1pt
    1-14 separated by 6pts

It is no wonder that our predictions are all over the place!

Have a good day everyone. <ok>
