Harsh on Mario - he's not that bad. He's not a goal scorer and never has been. And playing him as a lone striker is mad and just shows tht Rodgers doesn't really have a clue.

I maintain that our best attacking performances have been when Mario and Sterling/Sturridge are playing together.

His hold up play is brilliant - he has no runners so he often looks isolated and useless.

I like him - but he's not a fit for this team. Maybe as a Plan B.

Well, losing is never nice and not many fans ever want to see or hope their team lose, myself included. However, papering over the cracks is equally something we don't want to see so maybe something good can come of the recently **** times we're all experiencing (again).

Also, yes there have been some awful performances this year and this season won't be one to remember but there are some positive signs in there too. Coutinho seems to have come of age with the extra responsibility, Migs proved he has mental strength, a few of the young signings have shown glipses of what they can do and with the right guidance they could become good players and Brod as shown yet again an ability to switch things around to find a winning formula, he just needs to realise sooner when it breaks down again.

Rodgers has had ample opportunities to show what he can do. And each time he's been found wanting. He is a nice enough bloke but this may sounds harsh he is not good enough for a big club like ours.

My description of him as the nearly "so near yet so far" man was unfortunately confirmed by Hull.

- He got outfoxed by Mourinho in a game where he just needed to keep his cool to win the title
- He was naive against Palace. By all means try to rectify the GD but when it looked that things were turing sour then secure the win.
- He got outfoxed by Van Gaal at home when he was stunned in that first half
-He got outfoxed by wenger at the Emirates where he had no answer for the pressing of Arsenal. I had never seen Arsenal play like that at home.
-he got outfoxed by Sherwood , a rookie, who stated that LFC was flummoxed by Villa's tactics.

We can see the pattern here can't we? he is a good coach and possibly a good No2 for a big club but in terms of being a good manager - he is simply not good enough. The manager and the quality of the players determine the fate of the club. Mourinho, Wenger, Ferguson, Shankly et al have shown that but then the quality of the players they recruit to form the squad.

Is there any point in keeping him when we can be dead certain we'll be hovering around 5th and 7th next season? Suarez broke that trend last season. We need to recruit another Suarez, two Rodgers says. At least he recognises that now.

One word will condemn his tenure with us: Balotelli . A failed gamble which as MITO said he has to pay with his job.

PJ will say something negative about Liverpool as the answer :)
Wigan had been on the slide from the moment Wheelan stopped financing the club. With reduced support and small gates it was only a matter of time<ok>

Not questioning RHC or his mate, but I just cannot buy that Rodgers is safe.

FSG are ruthless, have given Rodgers 3 years and £200m to spend, and we're back to where we started really...

But £200m less in the bank account and Borini and Lambert on the books <yikes>

there's a lot more to add to that list....

I think personally he is a lad who's done a decent job at coaching under other structures but has jumped at the managing lark and doesn't have

a) the connections... whats he got off mourinho? Faff all.. worse than faff all he's blanked by mourinho more than anything. where's his scouting netwrok.. nowhere

b) knowledge.... where his dossier when it comes to spotting a player, he should have encyclopedic knowledge of players across europe at first tema level at least IMO and his scouts shoud be feeding this knowledge daily. the eye for a player doesn't seem to be there

c) multiple tactics at hand for different opposition. He seems to have some thought of tactic = press but not press, run but dn't run. defend but don't defend whereas a man like pulis has a clear game plan sticks CBs and CMs across the lines and plays rigidly. even hodgson has set patterns of play as he would say. Is it 4-3-3, 4-1-2-1-2, 3-4-3 or is it luck into something that clicks and stick with it til it goes tits up them revert to swansea formation.

After 3 years what can we say really

1. He started 4-3-3 with false 9 and two wide forwards. yesterday he played 4-3-3 with false 9 and two wide forwards...

2. defensively has he improve LFC

3. attacking has he improved LFC

4. squad wise has he improved us over comolli's stuff

5. repuation wise has he enhanced us?

the answer to all of these is not really.

the one thing i'll say is as a squad we might be better.... but we've lost ll class really andonly coutinho gives it

My strong opinion is the only way forward now is to push out the baot and ay a big name a nig wage to come in for this never ending project.

big names bring big names.

Problem is he's right to do that as none of them have shown any sign of being good enough. He bought them though so has to accept that as his own fault.
Only Badontelly has had a decent amount of games though the others may have been purchased as cover but they haven't even been used as that really...No wonder they have zero confidence etc

You bloody know what I mean.

When I saw our two players grappling with Mourinho in the first few minutes trying to speed up the game, I thought to myself: what the ****? Am I dreaming here? Chelsea had to win and we only needed a draw. Why are they slowing the game and why are we falling for their trap of making us think we needed to win that game. Are they living in a paralel universe?

To this day, no one has satisfactorily (to me anyway) explained what Rodgers and his team were trying to do in that match.

We've certainly lost the pace in our attack but I think it stems from Rodgers overcompensating for the defence. It goes back to the question - can Rodgers ever find the balance? ..

doubt it.

He compromises the press to cover full backs quite a bit.

he cannot commit to his ideal yet a manager like mourinho can... why?

Mourinho can have 3/4 press and defended easily with rest.

Rodgers seems to want 1 up trotting about and the press only come one sometimes and not others which is very confusing for players i bet.

coutinho and stelring should not be way behind badontelly wide they should be chasing up and cutting guys apart.

Lambert: 32 games (21 league games)
Balotelli: 26 games (15 league games)
Borini: 18 games (12 league games)

These don't take minutes into account and Rickie's had a lot of introductions in the final minutes.

All well and good looking at number of games but i hate it when people write so and so has scored 1 in 20 games without taking account of what game time they are getting (tbf their record is bad all over). Borini has had like 400 minutes, ricky 600odd minutes and balotelli 900. When you think Sturridge has barely played this season and even he has clocked up 700 minutes. I just don't think these guys have had their chances (borini especially) especially when the style doesn't suit them and they keep getting chucked on for 20 minutes.

Maybe the Brendens seen that creative spark isn;t there when they come on and they haven't contributed but Liverpool are hardly setting the world on fire with the number of chances you guys are creating.

I can explain.

It was lack of bottle

We didn't trust ourselves to muller palace and newcastle despite winning 11 in a row so we chased a game cos we wanted to win the league as soon as we could.

We were nervous of being so close, and nervous energy with a lack of leadership lead to a frantic game. We went out so sure we'd just score in first 20 and cruise the game. we went in expecting to just cruise the game given mourinhos comments that we fell for it... nobody but it seems us old soaks could see mourinho was going to do what he did and so we expected to win failed to score and then on the pitch we panicked.

We had no leaders saying F lads chelsea are handing this to us here. lets sit back and just make sure we get the clean sheet too.

46mins gerrard looking for hollywood ball, johnson miles up on right side. two CBs totally split... gerrard not watching ball but picking pass... lets it under foot... disaster

Real leadership would have put the back 4 tight together and tried to play them with 5 attackers and 5 defenders

they would not have scored we might have nicked one but would be happy with draw

it is that simple... cocky confidence from wins, belief we'd blow them off the pitch, no leadership, no bottle and blind panic when we were not winning after 15mins

Well I think yeah if a player doesn't get at least 4/5 games in a row it can be hard for players to get into the run of things.

bornin was supposed to go and refused so he got blanked. I personally think ok downing in rodgers first year got a good run in the end.

but hey

last night rodgers played can, then stuck markovic at RB not manquillo what is that about.

Totally agree which is why I put the last bit
