Sorry, I wasn't clear.WJ. It’s net spend so offset by player sales, with what we got from the sales of wood and Taylor we would be no where near the top of that.
Sorry, I wasn't clear.
I meant that the net figures were a lot lower than I expected. For instance, didn't Villa spend about £40m? If so, can't imagine them recouping anything like that. You never get a players full value once you get relegated - you can't afford him, and other clubs know that they've got you by the balls, hence the low sale prices. There were a few big spenders, but I don't remember them selling big to offset that cost. Have to admit it's just an impression. I have zero evidence to support this.
Can I remove my tongue from my cheek yet???The championship is probably more enjoyable than the PL because of exactly this - it makes it interesting
go on then - it makes talking that much easierCan I remove my tongue from my cheek yet???
A very thorough response to a less than serious post but you are quite rightYep very true, though it’s chicken and egg, sometimes it’s hard to tell whether a side is poor or being put under pressure and made to look poor.
My personal experience of individual sport is that if you play someone who is just a bit better than you... or better on the day, you always feel you played badly - because you were having to do everything a split second faster, under more pressure... it creates errors, rash decisions etc. in team sports it’s compounded as not only is the pass to you less accurate, given at the wrong time, over hit etc, you witness your team mates flustered and it impacts on you mentally. You can see nerves spread through a team sometimes.
Barnsley's Passing was poor, they were trying the Hollywood pass too much too early but no doubt our pressing restricted their options and forced their hand. So let’s take some credit for that.
The difference between our good performances and bad ones seems to me to be how effective our press is. Ie like a lot of sides, we’re much better at taking advantage of broken play than of breaking down sides in possession.
Some days it doesn’t look like we are really trying to harry the opposition in possession.. maybe we are and some teams are better at dealing with it? Dunno.
Your leader will be so proud of youRubbish

I'm hoping this is one to develop and not to go straight into the 1st team. In January if we are going to get a new striker I would really like a player who will hit the ground running. To do this I think we need a player who is/ or has played in the championship and been successful. You must log in or register to see media

Indeed MalkyMany a true word is spoken in jest Marcus... apparently
We have found to our cost that every player seemingly has his price. Maybe, just maybe, if a good chunk of our famous warchest is used we might well be able to land a quality player or two. You're right of course but who is available / which team would sell to one of their rivals??
