The Breakfast Debate

No panic mighty, well just replace him with another Italian international. As wc has proven, Italian soccer, whilst clearly not great, is still well ahead of the English game

Haha. I think at the World Cup Italian football looked in just as bad a state as English football Eire. I'm sure we'd replace him with another ex u21 international who has been plying his trade in serie b, or in the reserves in serie a.

They may ur not come good, my fingers are crossed and whilst I welcome your optimism I'm not sure I quite share it at the moment!

Milky
pamper him he is Oirish and only knows about potatoes football is not his forte <ok>

Anyone going to the Swindon friendly? I think i'm going.

Mighty, can you message me some more details around your school or an email address buddy? I got a friend who is an English teacher who would like some more details if thats ok? <ok>

Not in the game I watched Eire they didn't, and they were soundly beaten by the mighty Costa Rica, who we held to a fighting draw!!!

Hey we're rubbish, but at least we were there.... Albeit briefly.

Not in the slightest bit worried about losing Smith. He's ok, but nothing special

I thought he improved during the season. We haven't got that many players left. I'm nervous having too many foreigners in the team. I would have liked Westwood in goal. The season hasn't started yet and I'm feeling nervous.

Watch this clip of our youngsters on Soccer AM RE skill school.

The point that I would make it that although these skills wouldn't really be needed on a pitch, it shows control.

Control is something which we have lacked both on and off the field.

Agree?

i'm sure there are many far greater english humiliations you could choose over that for entertainment eire, but i guess the most recent is the sweetest! I'm sure we'll have a new favourite toy for you soon.

Another couple of weeks hopefully there will be a football season to distract me milky <ok> Still think replacing British players with Italians could be a master stroke

hope so eire, if we're getting the same or better quality for cheaper it could be. It's the big if. None of us know these guys or have seen them, we only know who they've played for. I suspect they'll be like any 'unproven' signings, some will be pleasant surprises and some will be turkeys. Lets hope we get some pleasant surprises and that we don't end up with a split italy v England dressing room. Because that means tears for the english:emoticon-0105-wink:

A 2-1 loss is as good as it gets for Eire Milky, lots more entertainment to be had watching the ROI getting 5 or 6 put past them, which happens quite regular :emoticon-0102-bigsm

There's no way we should let Smith leave. He's an exciting prospect, one for the future who's already started delivering. Look at the change in him over the last year - he's lost weight, gained stamina & speed (relatively), and improved technically. Even if he's not first choice, wouldn't you like to see him come off the bench for the last 20 mins when we're chasing a goal? I just can't see why it would be a good idea to let him go - in fact, he should be offered an extension to his current contract, which only has 12 months left. We don't pay him very much, and we'd get buttons from the likes of Millwall for him.

Smith must stay!!
