In the interview with Burnsy a few weeks ago, Ehab made much of a Bolton equaliser? winner? keeping them in the Championship. Said they celebrated, but it was to be their financial downfall. Bolton were sustainable in League 1, but not in the Championship. He then told us the City players have a 50% pay reduction in their contract. Putting those two statements together at the time, I thought, no, surely not, no.
Sadly, with hindsight, there is no reading between the lines needed. That really was the plan.

That's how I read it. At best he wasn't worried about being relegated. Wonder if he feels the same now.

I've been listening to the podcast "The Price of Football" on Spotify. It's interesting.
They were saying that Steve Gibson must be the best liked owner by the fans. He's put in £170m to the club in the years he's owned 90% and his business gets group tax relief on the losses. Recently he's had to put in an average of £400k every week.
They were discussing Crystal Palace's accounts and they said that Palace were losing on average £100k per day for 364 days and on the 365th day they got the money back by selling Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United.

Now if you were talking about legal advice I would agree with you!
I read all the time about IA replacing lawyers and see demonstrations of how it can give accurate legal decisions. They seem to think that a client can explain the case accurately to a computer.
I've had potential clients come to me as an accountant and they try to explain what they want. They are pretty bad at it and usually can't make sense. I'll say to them: "Let me tell you what I think you want and then you can tell me any different." After I tell them they say: "That's exactly what I want!" It's not difficult to work it out because once you know their situation it's quite easy to understand the issues involved.

I've come up with a list of players for next season and the season their contracts expire and if there's an option to extend.

Forget Milinkovic, he's on loan in Canada until the end of the year and we're obviously hoping he's not coming back.

I also suspect we'll lose a few on that list in the next month or so.

Leo, Burke and de wijs. Almost certainly I think
Leo has been asked to play out of position a lot.
The centre backs have really looked bad after doing well earlier in the season.
Defence really needs to be sorted out as well as making sure the forwards are given a chance to score goals.
