There are 3 in Houston. When I feel homesick, I just get in the car and go for a drive :D
 
1991 Toyota Corolla 4WD Wagon, 5 speed - attached a photo of the twin of mine (same province) - I have been driving same vehicle for past 22 yrs 3 mths, almost as long as I've been married. 340,000 KM original engine - a great winter vehicle - longevity eh, that's what happens when you have 5 kids to support - I tell them, it's just a metal box that gets you from point A to point B and hopefully doesn't break down in between. I've only had one non-start, in the depths of winter when my fuel pump died - drove to the office parking lot that morning, but car wouldn't start at lunchtime.

None of that nonsense air bags, power everything options, anti-lock brakes, GPS etc - very easy to work on mechanically. Last couple of years only required some bodywork to meet annual motor vehicle inspection requirements.

Killy, now that's what I call a proper car. Tough as old boots those things. Would drive you to the moon and back.

I'm more of a Saloon man myself but if I was a family man, the estate is what I'd go for. Probably an Octavia or Superb.

I'm not a fan of those minivans that you see mums running around in and I HATE crossovers. They are neither a car nor an SUV. Just an ugly cross breed.

Call me old fashioned but that Toyota is my kind of motor! 10 out of 10 mate! :emoticon-0148-yes:
 
Was watching Top Gear last night and a load of disabled ex-soldier who had lost limbs in Afganistan, were doing competeing in a cross country (driving) event.
They started using a Freelander, the V6 job and ended up in a Bowler Wildcat....Waht a machine. I'd love to drive one of them. I remember seeing richard Hammond drive one some years ago and declare "I am a driving God"...
I'm booking my rally driving course this week, 8 laps on a course in a scooby..should be a laugh!
Anyone else ever done it ?

I seen that show mate. Great stuff. I remember Hammond in that Wildcat a few years ago too! Crazy machine.

Should be great fun man. I've done a few laps on a track in a focus RS alright. That was great fun but I don't think it would compare to a rally drive in a Scooby.

Speaking of Impreza's, I was watching a show about the late Colin McCrae the other night. He could really make that thing move. Left them and joined Ford but kept wrecking his Focus.

I've always loved Rally driving. Burn rubber Queensy! <ok>

Yeah, i remember McCrae as one of the greats. Used to watch him when he drive the Sierra Cossie's, definately made them shift. there's one track on the WRC where there is a jump the McCrae still has the record for. Not sure what country, poss finland or Wales ?!
Hard to get past watching Sebastion loeb in the last few years. He's run riot with Citroen and is always right up at the top.

just out of intrest, have you ever seen Travis Pastrana drive a scooby? Well worth a watch if you can & have a lok at his world record jump from 2 years ago..seriously nuts...! Thats how you drive a car to its limit!

Of course in 1995, with our third child on the way (I now have five), we were fast running out of space with the Toyota estate packed for vacation, so we invested in the obligatory family 7 passenger minivan and the best around at that time was the new style Dodge Grand Caravan pictured below. We bought the first available 1996 model which was around $30,000 on the road with a good options package.

13 years later, in 2008, now house poor with all those kids I bought a used 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan on Kijiji with 145,000 KM for $1,950 and turned around and sold our original 1996 model with 205,000 KM for $1,800 so a pretty good upgrade (4 yrs newer and 50,000 less KM's). That vehicle almost 5 years later is still going strong, as is my 22 yr old Toyota with 339,000 KM which is used for my 10 min commute to work and running around town. It is a great great winter vehicle with the 4WD.

DT, thats no secret mate. Anyone who knows about cars is well aware of what Saab can do.
What else would you expect from the manufacturer of jet engines.....?

Intrestingly, did you know Mr lambourghini actually started out making Tractors...? Bet the ploughed the F out of some of them fields !

Honda 250 XR

Not a car but the best way to get around one of the most congested cities on earth. 26 years old and I think it would probably work under water (which it often is out here)

I'm going to guess the Saab's either the Hot Aero (I think) ortuned itself....

And Ql, I think Mr AstonMartinalso started out making tractors!!

Killy, I'm not going to slag you over the minivan because if I had a wife and a rake of kids, maybe I'd be forced into buying one too. I'd like to think though that I'd get an estate car!

Its also difficult to compare motors from here with those of the US, Oz and where you are, Canada. The cars in those Countries are much bigger because the Countries themselves are geographically much bigger. If I lived in North America I'd no doubt have a bigger car than I have now.

(As far as minivans go, your one actually looks quite well!)
