England will be happy enough - but God, that pitch is so docile! Our bowlers will have to be very patient.

Surprised the Aussies prepared a pitch with so little pace in it.

I'm hopeful that we'll see a bit of character from the lads; it's a long slog, but a decent start. It's good to have a sporting distraction... :emoticon-0101-sadsm
 
Do you think they are double bluffing with Lyon been the main weapon?

To me for what a good bowler Starc is he chucks a lot of bad balls down unlike Johnson when he was pinning us to the sight screen. If we try to get after Lyon a bit it really will test the Aussies with four bowlers.

The pitch will be very interesting at Adelaide with it been under lights.

Another thing what’s the thoughts with Bairstow batting so low? He’s probably our 2nd best batsmen.
 
I genuinely thought SKY still had the cricket which is why I first subscribed with them. Tuned in last night and its on BT ! So my first call this morning was to SKY to cancel my subscription. Genuine question, how do you join BT and how much should it cost ?

I don't know if you're able to do either, but if you're a BT Broadband subscriber you can get the BT Sports channel showing the Ashes for free. Also, you can do a deal with EE to get the BT streaming app for free too.

All things considered, not a bad day for England. That said, the Gabba has a history of flattening a little after the first day so I've no real idea of how things stand. Runs for Stoneman, Vince and Malan are huge positives. Vince in particular. If England can nail down a number three, it will strengthen us considerably.

When I had Sky they were always sending me offers for Sky broadband , I had to point out to them that you couldn't get it in Hull
they had no idea

Ultimately the lack of test cricket on terrestrial TV will be very bad news for the long term future of the game in that format
