Johnson's torn us to shreds. Only Carberry can come out of this with his head held high. Was out to a superb catch. Pietersen and Root's shots were atrocious.
I have to say that that over from Johnson was so thrilling to watch. It reminded me of Flintoff bowling to Ponting in 2005. He sent down 6 balls of complete hell to Ponting and getting him out with the last ball of the over. It was sensational fast bowling from Johnson.
Not really sensational. England have bottled it big time, we look scared to even hit the ball. Australia will win the Ashes 5-0. We need to seriously start looking at our selections, it's the same old **** time and time again. We only won The Ashes herr because Australia were beyond ****e.
172 all out . Johnson 7 for 40. need a big sort out when we get home !!!!! Australia not enforcing the follow on .
Australia were ****e in key sessions in a few games, thats what lost them Tests in the summer. Overall, their batting & bowling was on a par with England in our favourable conditions. Cook looks like a rabbit in the headlights, he doesn't inspire or do enough as captain. Saw a glimpse of it at the Rose Bowl early in the summer v New Zealand where Cook was totally anonymous in the field and I didn't once see him gee up players or give them pep talks. Not sure who the alternative would be as captain though. Need to get shot of KP once and for all. His ego is just about bearable when he's scoring runs, but when he isn't, then he's a massive problem, especially on tour.
Losing the two tosses on good batting wickets have not helped England's cause, but really it is all about the mentality of both sides. If Cook was in his normal form of the last few years then it would have a massive effect on the rest of the batting, but he is getting out cheaply and putting pressure on the team. Losing Trott has been a big factor too because he has been a rock at number 3 until recently and the trouble is that the middle order is being exposed to a relatively new ball with a clearly rejuvenated Mitchell Johnson facing them. I agree that KP in his current form is a liability, when we need someone to knuckle down and make big runs, he just doesn't have the application to spend a long time at the crease. Our seam bowling options look very slim and we can't expect Anderson and Broad to run though their batting on their own and the Aussies seem to have got Swann's number too. Finally, the forn of Prior as WK/Batsman is a real worry, looking at the contribution that Haddin is making for them.
Starting to change my opinion of MV as a TMS commentator . Before the Ashes he was saying we would walk it , now , it's the worst he has ever seen etc , 5-0 etc , he might be right , but he changes his mind far to easily . Also he shows VERY little respect to the elder / senior commentators .
I saw Vaughan play a lovely innings against Hampshire once, he was a great batsman. As a pundit though, he's got a lot to learn.
