Especially with Archer to replace him. Hopefully we'll skittle them soon and then it won't matter that we can't get Smith out if he's got no-one ot bat with.
Brilliant effort so far without Jimmy .. but the crux of it will be when we bat and how we fare. This pitch appears to give something for the bowler and conditions helping.
All out for 289, we'd probably have taken that at 11 this morning. Odds now on England losing wickets in the 2 overs they have to bat tonight?
I see that the cheat Warner Smith got 144. ****ing ****. People are complaining about him getting booed - HE'S A ****ING CHEAT. AND AN AUSSIE. BOO HIM TILL HIS EARS BLEED.
Err, Warner should have been out first ball but England didn't review, he was out a little later for 2. It was the cheat Steve Smith who got 144...
Whether you like Smith or not, and I don't as a character, he really is a class test batsman. He is one of the few that has not had his mindset changed by the shorter version of the game. We just don't have, Root probably the nearest, a batter who has the patience to just stick in there, and see off the first 20 overs, even if the runs are not coming. I would say 284 is about par for this wicket, so if England can get passed their total, it will be a good effort IMO.
He is isn't he. He's such a weird technique too. Must be horrible to bowl at. You'd think bowl it straight and he'll eventually miss, but he never does and has suddenly accrued a lot of runs. incredible to think he first came to prominence as 'the new Shane Warne', and batting at No 8. Have to admire him reinventing himself. Still a massive **** though. I could see us crumbling if there's any movement today. What a fantastic sporting event though isn't it. Batting those two overs out last night was unbearably tense and yet we're only on the first day of the series! I just think this series is gonna ebb and flow and could be a real classic.
