They can't even manage a 69.**** sake lads, you could've at least got two more runs for laughs.
I used to drink in the Original Oak back in 1967 too. Happy days.Bit of self indulgence here...apologies.
Can't believe that the street number I painted on the wall outside 14 Broomfield Crescent in Headingley in 1967 is still there. To be honest, I'm surprised the property hasn't been condemned ! We used to call it "Typhoid Towers" in honour of John Cleese - even before he came out with Fawlty Towers
You can spot the Rhinos Rugby Ground & maybe a snippet of the cricket ground behind said midden.
Oh what a life. Have we declared yet ?

The trouble is they have to pay ECB to stage the match and its expensivegordon bennett. well, i've paid my last visit to a test match. and now i'm trying to recall whether my visit to headingley about 38 years ago was for a test or a yorkshire game.
I was in one called Headingley Tap yesterdayCan any of you Original Oak or Skyrack (Shire Oak) lot remember if they were captive Brewery Pubs of free houses in your time ?
Any one go to the Chippy round the corner on Chapel Lane after closing ? My best mate & his missus RIP Joan) owned the place. Mark Knopfler used to go in there after his band (pre-Dire Straits) finished there gig (sometimes in the Oak).
You should pay me to take it off your hands.Anyone want to buy my ticket for Sunday ?
After my time there methinks - where is it in relation to the Oak or Skyrack ?I was in one called Headingley Tap yesterday
Is it on the way from Skyrack back to the stadium? More recently I believe we enjoyed a few hours there while it was raining, I suspect it was the notorious Pieterson test vs Sth Africa? Denis? After my time there methinks - where is it in relation to the Oak or Skyrack ?
I think it had become a cheap curry 'restaraunt by the early eighties? We did a few runners from there, but later read it was done for using Alsatian meat, so probably honours even? Can any of you Original Oak or Skyrack (Shire Oak) lot remember if they were captive Brewery Pubs or free houses in your time ?

Skyrack probably shaded it when we lived there.Over the last six years or so, the lads I lived with have had an annual reunion, and it seems to change every time I go in. All bright machines and flashing lights, wooden floors etc. Whereas the Oak is just timeless.much preferred the skyrack. which is, of course, a corruption of shire oak.
I think Root's batting has gone downhill because he doesn't like coming in when the ball's only 2 or 3 overs old.I am really lost for words what is happening at Headingley, the art of Test batting seems to have been lost. I think the amount of shorter form of the game the players are playing now, has really created what we are seeing out there. Also, is the captaincy affecting Root's batting, it appears to be? England's bowlers must be knackered, they are just not getting enough rest between innings.
