You certainly move from elation to desperation with this England side. I just finished watching the highlights from yesterday and was obviously elated with Archer's performance, only to look on the BBC website to see we are 10-2. Let's hope at least one partnership can flourish and get us a good first-innings lead.
You can imagine Archer watching this wondering 'why do I bother...'

A master class in how you bowl at Headingley. Don't give any width, due to the short square boundaries. That session has just cost us the Ashes. 2nd innings, they will have the best batting conditions of this test match. Anything but a healthy lead would not have been enough.

Good bowling yes, but crap batting. Reckon only Root got out due to the bowling, the rest just got out playing bad shots.

Bloody 'Ell. The Ozzies are doing what I did many a time staggering back from The Original Oak in Headingley to my place @ 14 Broomfield Crescent LS6.
They are pissing all over the pitch, including us

pathetic effort. this is a side-effect of t20 and lack of county cricket. they can't build an innings. boycott, even at his current age, would easily have top-scored today.

I think you're correct .
It's a lack of patience and like you say T20 s desire to play at every ball .
It won't get any better with the new 100 ball format !

Cheapest tickets £80 as well

Reckon it must be tough for the bowlers to get fired up again after that batting display?

Bit of self indulgence here...apologies.

Can't believe that the street number I painted on the wall outside 14 Broomfield Crescent in Headingley in 1967 is still there. To be honest, I'm surprised the property hasn't been condemned ! We used to call it "Typhoid Towers" in honour of John Cleese - even before he came out with Fawlty Towers :emoticon-0105-wink:
You can spot the Rhinos Rugby Ground & maybe a snippet of the cricket ground behind said midden.
Oh what a life. Have we declared yet ?
