Me neither, and none of my mates of that age do either. Bit of a stupid, incorrect thing to say imho. You've omitted the word 'some' in that, I don't think that way.
Huh, says you, never heard such patronising nonsense!
So is it ok to generalise about generations, or isn't it?Me neither, and none of my mates of that age do either. Bit of a stupid, incorrect thing to say imho.
Correct to say that a lot of positives are ignored, and the media is very guilty of that, but on the other hand the negativity and running the country down is not something that's made up; the country has absolutely been going to the dogs in so many way for so long now, it is near ****ed and that's just a fact.
Of course it's ok to generalise, but if that's the intention you should say 'as a generalisation', 'some' or use some other qualifier. You didn't.So is it ok to generalise about generations, or isn't it?
The UK isn't near ****ed or going to the dogs... What a drama queen, Gfaw. It's got problems that have festered due to bad management.
Every year more or less, but I've got three younger siblings, who all have kids in the UK. There's problems, but name a country that doesn't. I was in Italy a couple of years ago and there was dumped **** everywhere when driving through the countryside.Heimdallr.....Without being facetious, simple question and no argument called for...
How do you know the U.K hasn't gone to the dogs, how often do you visit,if not often, how do you gauge it?
As a resident of Scotland and a regular visitor to England, I firmly believe that we are on the latter stage of a slippery slope, the Country is fast becoming a sh!thole.
My opinion has nothing to do with my age and nothing to do with the younger generation,I blame current and previous governments, their ignorance and personal greed.
Or .. it's a forum so I'll comment on what I like, and you comment on what you like. And if we disagree, so what.Of course it's ok to generalise, but if that's the intention you should say 'as a generalisation', 'some' or use some other qualifier. You didn't.
Irrespective, I think your statement was simply not correct, even as a generalisation, and it seems a few already agree.
Re. the UK, I'd suggest you take your head out of your arse or stop commenting on things you know nothing about.
2025????Some of every generation tell us the country isn't what it was, sometimes that's a good thing. Of course there's problems, but that's always the case, when was it better?
Indeed, people had a great time queuing outside of Northern Rock.2008![]()

Did some one really say that?? Oohhh wonder whoWith the media and the internet the way it is, people who want to hear that the country is ruined will see constant news of that nature. I follow a Good News UK subreddit and as a result I see loads of positive stories that I'd never know about otherwise. We all have biases and the internet and media feed them relentlessly. Someone on this thread the other day said he sees gangs of black people on Kingswood. I live on Kingswood too and hardly ever even see black people around here, never mind 'gangs'.
Friendly dig or not I constantly hear the comments from older folks that the young are idle.Ye, it was a friendly dig. Every generation of pensioners thinks the world won't survive without them - it's a coping mechanism to feel valued once the opportunity to change the world has passed. There is a level of negativity and running the country down, whilst ignoring all the positives and good things - the UK is a world leader in many sectors, there are problems that politicians need to sort, but the Wheels will keep turning long after you and I are gone.

Do you have a problem with gangs of white lads or is it just gangs of black lads that bother you?I work on kingswood and see loads of them...open your eyes man
No body bothers me....apart from youDo you have a problem with gangs of white lads or is it just gangs of black lads that bother you?
Blame the ****heads we let in....Here's something I've posted in the past, seems relevant.
I will echo the sentiment that the country is ****ed.
It's a different place to what I guess most on here grew up in. The new arrivals have a different mentality to those who came after ww2 and upto the 80s. The local population has also changed in their attitudes.
Without going all political, back in the early 80s with a smaller population unemployment got to 4 million. No food banks, no blatant shop lifting, no job vacancies of any sort, but almost everyone was looking and trying to find work. A number of my small circle of friends got through it and went on to have successful and productive lives.
Today a much larger population and unemployment is 1.5 million, there are companies crying out for workers simple jobs no qualification required even at minimum wage thats £12.50 an hour but somehow at the same time we have a cost of living crisis, even the police and NHS staff have been claimed to need food banks.
No one gives a **** about the place any more, drop litter as a kid and your parents would give you a clip around the ear, now people are taking in a vehicle rubbish to the end of the built up area and dumping sacks full of rubbish. Every layby and car park is full of take away wrappers.
All in all it's a fairly bleak outlook.
