More than 20 million UK viewers tuned in to watch Germany beat Argentina in the World Cup final on Sunday, which was simulcast on BBC One and ITV.

The BBC's coverage drew a bigger audience, averaging 12.1 million viewers and peaking with 16.7 million during the match's final five minutes.

ITV averaged 2.9 million viewers, peaking at 3.9 million in the last 10 minutes before the 90-minute whistle.

So more than 3 out of 4 viewers chose to watch the final without Andy Townsend's insightful comments.
 
Jesus. ITV need to shame themselves up after a thrashing like that. The BBC are clever, they get ex-pros in who are utterly polished. Lawro and Ferdinand aside, let's not mention the final score clowns either.

ITV feels a like a jobs for the boys type of affair to me.

How the fluck do the BBC select lawrenson ffs. He is an absolute bell end of the highest order. He gets the England games. He played for Republic of Ireland. I despise him
 
Football got by without pundits for many a long year but had some very good commentators. Queen of them all came with Sky in the form of Andy Grey. Who needs them.
 
BBC would have got all of the viewers if they didn't have f**ing Lawrenson, I hate him more than anybody else on the television and I'm convinced he'll be exposed in Operation Yewtree soon enough the scruffy little toilet brush looking mother f**er. Always coming out with crap like "Look at his nose" and "Look how dirty his top is".
