So the people not wanting Elia as back up feel:
Mcqueen
Isgrove

Are better then him? In my opinion they both aren't.

I feel Mane, Tadic, JRod, Juanmi and Long are better than him on either wing. I'd probably rather we played Bertrand on the left at Targett left-back, and rather JWP played right than him. So he's seventh choice at either position for me, think he's better than both Isgrove and McQueen (Though Isgrove offers similar things, primarily pace and limited end product), but not by such a level that it really matters at a spot so far down the pecking order. Seems like an unnecessary blockage on the 'pathway' to me.

The problem for me is that we'd either be getting him for the sake of it, which I'm against, I don't think we need to get as carried away filling out the squad as has been suggested, or for him to actually play a proper role which from what I've seen of him even with my trust of Ron I couldn't abide. If we want to get him just to be 6th or 7th choice, I don't see it as necessary but whatever, not really a problem, if we expect more or he expects to play more (His Ron-love will only keep him happy for so long if that's the case) then I do have concerns.

I think if he does join it will be just as back up. For me Mcqueen and Isgrove aren't good enough. So with buying Elia it would give us a bit more depth until Sims is ready to step up, which I think will be a year or two.

Let's remember, we're basing all this on his girlfriend saying she lives in Southampton on Facebook. It's all a bit "Jim White"...

Must be time for another signing Les!

Nope, Elia has added it to his Twitter as well. So Elia is either re-joining or he gets attached easy.

Good window for Palace if it comes off....(copied from skysports)

BAMFORD HEADING TO PALACE

Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford will join Crystal Palace on loan for next season, according to the Daily Mail.

We heard earlier this afternoon that Sky Bet had seen the odds of him joining the Eagles cut to 1/4, and the Mail says the 21-year-old will spend the whole campaign with Alan Pardew’s side.
Palace will be a handful this season if they keep adding quality to a very fast workmanlike outfit they were under Pards

Let's be honest and say we don't have anywhere near the strength in depth of the top 6.

Adding Elia will help in this regard. Maybe we haven't seen the best in him yet. Good squad backup player if we sign him.

If we make it to the group stages, more games and more injuries....

Likewise. Good window for them.........but then we also said that about Hull last season.....
They still haven't done anything about their defence. They may sign that 20,25,29 year old Mbemba tho. But I think they need more then that.
