I didn't rate Okaka when he was at Fulham. Yes of course players can improve over time, and maybe he has. But his goalscoring record post Fulham doesn't exactly suggest he has.

I'm in agreement with Schad (as is usually the case).

Yes, I saw that but as you have been arguing about Cleverley, sometimes players just fit at some clubs or in some formations but not at others. I mean Crouch was hardly prolific before we signed him yet he did well. If we do sign Okaka, we will have to hope the same.

Exactly, which s why I asked about him as I've not seen him and know nothing about him.

Heh:

Sampdoria striker Stefano Okaka was complimented and insulted by his coach Sinisa Mihajlovic after his goal in their 2-0 victory over Torino.

The striker was on target with a wonderful solo effort in the 2-0 victory over Torino, showing great strength to hold off two defenders.

“He wasted six or seven years of his career, but now his head is on straight and he can become one of the best centre-forwards in Italy.” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“Okaka is doing very well and has everything it takes to make his mark,”

Talking strikers I'd take Austin and/or Bas Dost. The attacking midfielder is a problem goal scoring wise. I'd love to see from FC Twente Hakim Ziyech. Only problem is he only moved from Herenveen last summer. Goal scoring attacking midfielder, good assists. Similar to Tadic and can play wide.

Mentioned Ziyech a couple months ago as a desired target...think he has a chance to be just about perfect as the playmaker behind our front three.

Okaka - don't know him, never heard of him so looking at his stats I think it must be a massive NO!
Austin please

His Goalscoring certainly doesn't jump out. He has been playing consistently recently despite this and earned an Italian cap, so he must be offering more to his game.

The question on Austin is can he offer that hold up play which would bring in Mane/Long/Jay Rod?

We did alright last year with hit and miss hold up play.

I'm not at all convinced that our future stylistically is going to involve a big lump of a target man holding up play; we aren't building a methodical, hoof-and-hold attack. Our best stretches have been when we have exploited space in quick, aggressive attacks, and Austin is a much better fit there because he carries as much of a threat as they do.

Edit: Okaka was also dispossessed more per game than any player in Serie A, so I'm not sure that he's even a good option as a static holder of the ball.
