He can stay here, be captain, play for Portugal and be loved (...waits for Fran to warn me again ) or go to Liverpool to probably play a handful of games for silly money. I don't think he'll want to stop being picked for Portugal so he needs to play regularly therefore I can't see this happening. I don't think they would offer enough for him anyway.

Steve Davis deserves a little more patience. He signed a new 4 year deal (?) in the summer and he has been a good player for us. He is in a bit of a rut at the moment, but it is only a few months back, we were bemoaning his absence from the team and saying we miss his link up play. Fickle, fickle fans. I am all for bringing in an upgrade, but no need to discard him. He can and will do a good job for us again.

I thought he was having a good season until he got injured and since his return he has looked far from his best.

I'd much rather not sell him either, but for me it's a complete non-starter if we're looking at having to rebuild the defense in his absence.
