Crooks has said we could get Vlaar as he could be on our list.

 

Unless we're bringing in two CBs, Vlaar would be a pretty underwhelming replacement...he's excellent in the right setup, against the right opponent (namely, situations where opponents build slowly and face a stacked defense), but his mobility is declining quickly.

 

Id be disappointed with Vlaar. Had a good world cup thats it. Does not meet our transfer policy either. I would imagine either Martins Indi, Van Beek or Someone random from the black box AKA Football manager

 

Can't imagine Saints would just bring in Vlaar. Would be him and another I would say if we were to sign him.

 

If it was Vlaar, and another good CB I'd be more than happy with that.

 

When talking of our new players, Ron picked out Juanmi for a special mention, so he obviously rates him highly.

 

Yes, Juanmi is the most exciting signing so far. Definitely seems to be an upgrade on Elia/Djuricic and will hopefully prove to be another gem.

 

Virgil Van Dijk is the man I think we will end with........he ain't Toby but he will do for me, good player who will only get better.

 

I'd go get Martins-Indi , Ron knows him from Feyenoord days and he currently plays for Porto so i dont think it would be too difficult to entice him over.

Wouldn't imagine Saints breaking any bank to get someone in of note.
Not sure it's gonna be their style.
Think Saints will be looking in the 1mill-10mill shop.
Buy cheap....keep a season....sell to Liverpool for 25mill....then buy a replacement for 1mill and go again.

 

I think Osvaldo and Gaston have seen to that. We may push close if it someone either Ron knows very well (Clasie) or Toby (!), but outside of that I believe you are right.

Yeah, whether it's a response to a couple bad signings or something else, it does appear that we might be tightening the belt a little.

 

Question(s) for those suggesting we'll buy two more CBs.

Do you think we'd go into the season with 5 senior CBs (Fonte, Yoshida, Gardos, Newbie1 and Newbie2) or do you think someone would leave?

I don't think we would. McCarthy will be 5th choice. If we do sign two tho it will be Gardos going.

 

It's all very laudable Saints doing all their transfer business quietly but sometimes I just wish they would just give us a little snippet to keep us going, especially after todays disappointment. Anything anywhere about a new CB -apart from Vlaar? After his display at St Marys I am hoping it's not him.
