Trafford has kept 16 clean sheets. Was at City for years. It seems inevitable so we’ll just have to get behind it. Suspect he’ll be the only signing with Dubs the only outgoing.

Really? I think they all improve the first team, certainly the squad. No more Almiron, Wilson, Lascelles, Pope. It's too expensive to "massively" improve the first team.

I was talking Trafford, Harwood-Bellis, Dibling - Trafford and THB are no better than what we have and Dibling is good but still a big risk - looks like a really good prospect but still can't get regular run of starts for Soton yet and previous issues with moving to Chelsea have me a bit worried. Agree though all improve the squad.

Top 3 I'd take all day!

I was a bit meh on the prospect of signing Trafford back in the summer, but to be honest our transfer success rate has been exceptional - especially for those players we kept going after for consecutive windows. So, he'll probably turn out to be an excellent acquisition. Likewise Dibling if we're lucky enough to get him.

Trafford is quality. Not sure why people would be complaining about him

Is he the GK to take us to the next level right now? No!

Is he better than Pope? Maybe in the future but not right now he's not.

He conceded 62 goals last year in 28 games and only 2 clean sheets. Slightly better with his feet (its nearly impossible not to be) but not convinced he's a better shot stopper than Pope.

In short it's a massively sideways move and doesn't improve us sufficiently right now. If we had say Marmadashvilli signing and then go after him absolutely but for £20m theres no point wasting our budget on a keeper whos no better than what we have on the books currently.

Don't look at stats - he played for Burnley who got relegated from the PL playing very attacking football without having quality Very misleading. He's a quality keeper. He's basically a better version of Pope but also has great distribution quality similar to Dinosaur arms

He's looking ok in the Championship and ironically his stats are class this season down there but does he take the team to the next level?

I'm not sure that he does - right now, although I do think he will be a top half EPL keeper and maybe better in the future but right now that's about the peak of his power.

You have to look past where he's currently playing. BTW his team are second in the championship.

Is he better than Pope? I would say he's on a par with him, some attributes he's below Pope, some advice, like distribution. However he is 22 years of age and will grow and grow to be a free superior keeper thus taking us to the next level.

Pope is a championship keeper at best himself... half a one basically.

Think we kind of agree just coming at it from different angles. I'd rather push for a big upgrade now (Carnesecchi/Khelleher etc) and bring Trafford in in a season or two time when he's developed into the better keeper we think he's going to become.

Indeed but Kelleher is not a big upgrade. He's played far fewer games than Butland yet is 4 years older. Butland can be our main player now from what I've seen of him

Looks like Almiron is on his way. Paris for a connecting flight to the US apparently....
