Much as I'd like to see an improved RW, I think with Tripps, Lascelles, Krafth and Botman all injured, we.need to get a CB in as top priority. Preferably a RCB.
And with Schar suspended for Spurs it really shows how exposed we are in that position right now.
We won't get Olmo full stop. Out of our league. He is top drawer and will go for the salaries on offer by the big, big clubs. We won't get Olmo, he's a 10 and we don't use that. Trafford is crap. Tomori would be useful.
Any keeper that can pass will improve the gk position... Pope should now be no2... the significance of Popes inability is absolutely huge.
That Dubravka has been an upgrade is a huge indictment of how poor Pope is.
Agree Dubs should be seen as number 1 currently as his ball playing is far superior to Pope and actually allows us to play the ball around the back without just aimlessly thumping it forward (not sure he’s a better shot stopper though but not far behind Pope) but as Roly says highlights the issue we need a new GK urgently.
Ramsdale or Arrizabalaga at the end of the year or Khelleher in January. Not sure Liverpool would let him go before the summer though so we will likely have to muddle through with the GKs we have currently.
I think, sadly, it's almost nailed on we'll go for Trafford, who isn't really an upgrade. I'm keen to see a change in direction on transfers, but as we haven't actually bought anyone for a year it's hard to even know what our current direction even is!
Personally don't really rate either Ramsdale or Kepa. Kelleher, yes. I think we missed a huge opportunity in Marma because Howe wanted to stick to his trusted Pope.
I think it was also that Marma wanted bigger and Liverpool were interested. They are still a much bigger attraction, so a no brainer for him. And given what we've since seen in terms of the Anderson and Minteh deals, I suspect we wouldn't have been able to afford Marma at the time anyway. What was he like £30m+?I think, sadly, it's almost nailed on we'll go for Trafford, who isn't really an upgrade. He was, but this was into July when we were bidding £60m+ for Guehi.
If so, then that is mental. I know technically you can't guarantee any player will always start, but why would he not be our #1 ?Also read that Marma was wanting guaranteed playing time which we, IMO correctly, wouldn’t give.
One of the reasons we get less is because Pope isn't in goal mind.
