January doesn't represent good value so I'd rather just wait personally. The need for signing players just doesn't seem imperative at all next month.

If the right player does happen to be available at the right price or if someone is stupid enough to buy the players Newcastle can't get rid of then maybe something can happen.

What's wrong with seeing the season through?

Schar has more or less no cover. History tells us Murphy won't keep this form up. There's a lot on keeping Isak fit, because Gordon's crap CF and Osula's not even trusted 4-0 up at Ipswich. GK isn't particularly strong either.

I don't disagree with the notion that value is hard to find - but on our past 18 months, Summer value is just as bad, I think it's becoming something of a myth that January is so much worse. Take Fikayo Tomori, Antonio Silva or Eric Garcia. In the Summer their prices were far too much. Now all of them are out of favour.surely there's deals to be done?? We don't always have to be after someone utterly obvious and in the form of their life (Bakayoko) - isn't that what scouting teams are for?!

It's possible they've been told to come back in the summer for players, so whatever happens in January doesn't have to result in tantrums as if there's no possibility of ever moving forward again.

I bet there were numerous comments like this 12 months ago and look how summer turned out.

Absolutely but that's because the principle is always going to be the same.

Crucially however there was a huge PSR issue last summer that they knew about in January.

There's no point in crying about it now. It's the price we had to pay 3 years ago when we needed to stay up. That will be off the books come the summer and we go again in a better state with better sponsorships etc in place.

I agree but why can’t we aim higher than Trafford?

100% - Trafford would be a hugely sideways move. No better than what we currently have - which is dreadfully poor as it is anyway - probably worse than currently but even with his “potential” it would be a truly disappointing move.

Go get Khelleher or Ortega off Liverpool or City who are better than backup keepers or wait until Soton are relegated and go get Ramsdale. Hell I’d take Arrizabalaga in a heart beat (who supposedly has a £5m clause in his contract next summer) ahead of Trafford.

Concrete interest in Kelleher apparently. We’re supposedly looking to get either him or Trafford, whichever is the best value.

I like Kelleher. He ****ed up against us but played his part in getting Liverpool to the top of the tree.
