Think they got Holtby for about £3m. They'd agreed terms on a bosman move in the summer but spuds paid to get him early

3 mill is low risk. He'll be worth that amount for them you would think.

If not QPR could buy him.

Thats if they get there.

I will give them their dues with Bale though. He really is Quawlity as Rafa would say.

I'd be surprised if they don't get it, they might struggle in the next two weeks without Bale but once he's back they'll push on again.

Would be funny if Chelsea didn't get CL footie though <laugh>

Holtby cost £1.75 million...was due in july ona free but was bought in for a fee when sandro was injured.
5 years ago you lot wouldnt have bothered with a thread like this so I guess we aint as **** as we used to be....thatll console me over the summer months while I am dreaming of us buying a goddam striker!

It could happen to be fair. They do seem to just lose the odd game and they've got some tough games coming up.

Think Arsenal will go on a charge too.

Would rather Arsenal get top 4 over Spurs or Chelsea <ok>

Ps - don't ever listen me when it comes to players and their price tags <laugh>

Got to say, that was my first thought.

If Bale is out for longer than 2 weeks then they're royally ****ed!

There one man team has scored 40% of their league goals this season
Your one man team has scored 37.29% of your league goals this season
And just to keep it balanced, Uniteds one man team has scored 26.76% of our goals this season.
Guess if you take the main goal scorer out of most teams for any length of time they will feel it.

Reckon Arsenal will be in there come the end of the season. They have a pretty generous run of fixtures toward the end of the season and they always have a habit of picking wins up even if its a last minute winner via an offside, dodgy last min penalty or a deflected shot. Chelsea are inconsistent but have more match winners in their team than Spurs so can see them doing just enough to scrape in there. I'd say Spurs will just be edged out of the top 4 by the end of the season. They've proved us wrong over the last couple of years though so there's no reason they can't do it again and finish in the top 4.

I agree with you, but it doesn't stop people going on about teams being a one man team.

How many people said that Arsenal were a one man team when they had RVP? I'm sure loads, and I'm sure you were one of them.

I haven't seen Arsenal's run in so can't comment their run in but you're right, they do always seem to have a late season surge. Hope they can get in there, hopefully in place of Spurs <ok>

Nope, in truth i have never thought of any team as "one man", somebody has to be the leading goal scorer for every team, that is why they buy strikers at great cost.

Got to say not a fan of this type of thread, kind of copying the other side, but ah well, **** it, go nuts BBF. Well not fully nuts, never go full nuts, Pacino, Scarface, close not full nuts.

Two guys who got rich in the 80s want to hold a silence for her
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22078110

No PM since Churchill has got a silence and it should stay that way

Would be absolutely disgusted with Reading if they did attempt to tie a silence for Thatcher with the already planned Hillsborough tribute

From the way Madejski is speaking I wouldn't put it past him. It's entirely inappropriate to link the two, but will he realise that?
The trouble is there's little the fans could do as disrupting the silence would obviously be unthinkable.
Imo silences at football matches should be kept to people who are directly related to the game, or perhaps someone local to the club involved.

I have to agree. If this thread goes the way I expect it to I can't see me dropping in too often.
